Name: Kaedyn Pago

Hometown: New Bethlehem, Pennsylvania

High School: Redbank Valley High School

Sports: Basketball, Soccer, and Track and Field

Commitment: To continue his high jumping career for the Pennsylvania Western University – California Vulcans.

Why He Chose PennWest California: “I chose CalU because of the historically strong high jumping program they have there. The campus is also one of the more beautiful ones in the area.”

How He Began Track and Field: Pago began his track and field career just a few months ago. He had such a strong season that PennWest California called and offered him a spot on the team. Before this, he was expecting to stay home in Clarion County and head to PennWest Clarion to be a student. “The last year athletically has been a wake up call for me. It’s shown me that you can turn any situation around if you’re willing to put in the effort. Getting an opportunity like this means so much to me because I have always dreamed of it. “I credit my family, friends, and all of my coaches that have helped make this possible for me.”

Intended Major and Future Plans: To major in marketing and use his creative talents in his career.

Favorite Athletic Memories: “Competing at states in track and field this year, my improvement in basketball in my senior season, and the District 9 titles I’ve been a part of in basketball and soccer during my high school career.”

What New Bethlehem Means to Him: “New Bethlehem means the world to me. This little town where I grew up is the tightest community around. The support we’ve had throughout my high school career was definitely nothing short of incredible.”

Family Ties in College Athletics: His older sister, Ryley, is entering her senior season of college volleyball at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. “Having a sister who was successful in sports before me definitely helped me keep striving harder. With all of the success she’s had, it made me want to keep up and try to be better everyday. We are always so competitive about every little thing. She definitely set a standard for me to help achieve my goal of being a collegiate athlete. Being able to compete for New Bethlehem and its people means so much to me.”
