Why She Chose Marietta: “Everything about it feels like home. The coaches and team are friendly and encouraging. I also love the level of competition that they all bring to the pitch every day. The campus is beautiful, and it’s the perfect distance away from home. The team also went undefeated in this league and now has the opportunity to compete in their regional playoff tournament in Florida. What Her Club Teams Have Meant to Her: “It has been a really special experience to be a part of the new Erie FC club these past two years. When I first started playing club soccer, I was with Millcreek Soccer Association (MSA) before switching over to join the Erie Admirals. Both of these clubs taught me so much, but more importantly, they each gave me a wonderful set of teammates to learn from and become friends with. When the merger between the two teams occurred, I was one of the few players who really knew most of the people from both teams. It was really cool to see us all come together and work towards a common goal. From day one as a team, we were all dedicated to our collective goal of winning our league. That’s exactly what we did. Working and playing alongside girls who are at or even above your own level is such a cool experience. To be able to call every single one of those people my friend, too, is honestly unbeatable.”
Extracurricular Activities: Student Council President, Community Service Club Co-Chair, Spanish Club Vice President, Senior Class Secretary, and Senior Influencer for Jen Ives Photography
Top Athletic Memories: Saving two penalty-kicks during a state cup semifinal match, recording an assist off a punt during a club league championship game, and scoring a goal on senior night while playing the field. “Being able to cap off such a special night with a goal and celebrating with the girls I’ve grown up with is something I’ll never take for granted.”
Her Support System: “Both my mom( Megan) and dad (Evan) have made countless sacrifices to get me to practices, buy new equipment, and make it to as many games as possible. They never once let me shy away from my dreams and I am so grateful to have a support system like them in my life. Additionally, I would not be where I am today without the guidance of some wonderful coaches, especially Jake Dodd and his coaching crew. Jake is a coach who believed in me from day one, and he never let my potential slip away. We have trained together for almost eight years, and I have learned so much from him and everyone at his sessions. He truly is the main reason I was able to get to where I am today, and I will be forever grateful for that. I also have had so many wonderful coaches who have encouraged and supported me on my journey towards the next level, including Josh Hopkins, Marc Fiorelli, Sam Tojaga, Elvir Vila, Tony Turini, Mark Shokalook, Brian Kightlinger, and also every single coach at the Kronis Academy. Every one of these people has changed my soccer career for the better and I owe a lot of this to them! Finally, my teammates, who have become some of my biggest supporters and best friends. To every single person I’ve ever played with, I thank you. You are Al seriously the best and the reason I stuck with soccer for so long!”
