Commitment: Babson College. Babson is a private, business curriculum focused institution located in Wellesley, Massachusetts. The institution is a member of NCAA Division III and competes in the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC).
Why He Chose Babson: “Education was a huge deciding factor for me. Wanting to major in a business degree, I felt that Babson would give me a ton of educational experience to prepare me after college. Additionally, it just felt right when I visited. The coaches were great and the campus felt like home. I really saw myself thriving here and enjoying my college experience.”
Lacrosse Accolades: Started varsity as a freshman, team captain, two-time first-team all-section, and a two-time all-WPIAL selection.
Future Plans: Earn a business degree and to work in banking or investments.
Top Athletic Memories: “My top memories are state playoffs and the WPIAL Championship games. It is such a surreal experience to have the whole school and alumni there supporting the team. The energy from the team is like no other game throughout the season. We also get to play lacrosse beyond our school year, and we are the only sport still practicing and playing games. The guys are able to go play pickleball or go out to eat after practice without having to worry about waking up for school, and it allows everyone to bond and spend more time together.”
What True Lacrosse and Silverback Lacrosse: “Joining True in the fall and Silverbacks this summer, I am new to both teams. Despite this, I have made so many new friends and relationships with people on these teams. The coaches on True have really helped me improve my game as well. I have noticed such a huge growth in my skill level between now and the fall, and I keep getting better and learning new things. Silverbacks has also given me so many opportunities in recruiting this summer. I was able to be seen by Coach Batty from Babson by playing with Silverbacks at the end of the summer. I will play in at least one tournament with True this fall, but I am not sure if I will do anymore with Silverbacks.”
His Support System: “God has shaped my life and guided me in ways I would have never expected. He led me to where I am meant to be, and none of my accomplishments would be possible without him. My parents, Anna and Tony DeWitt, have been my two strongest supporters. They have given up so much of their time to help me pursue the game I love and find a school to play at. My coaches from True, Kevin McDonough and Matty Johnson, have made me into the player I am now. Matt has pushed me to be the best version of myself since day one. Coach Kevin has also expected a lot from me, and he has helped mold my game. Both of them are there when I have questions and are always helping me get better.”
An Unexpected Journey: “Three years ago, I never would have imagined that I would be playing college lacrosse at a top Division III school. I fell in love with lacrosse after my freshman year and decided to play club lacrosse. From there I just kept playing and training more and more. It has been one of the best decisions that I have ever made.”
