Random Thoughts:  We’ve got some interesting in-region match-ups as the ASC and SCAC have some matches together. Trinity, Whitworth and Pac Lu all take a stroll through the SCIAC and Puget Sound even has a match with an ASC opponent. All of these matches help greatly when ranking the west region. Remember, that the conferences all should be rooting for their teams because common opponent is a big player later down the road. ETBU upsets Southwestern and then lose conference matches to other ASC opponents and all of sudden SU has a big hole to climb because a bunch of ASC teams have a piece of them.

Out-of-region looks good, too. We have some matches against the best South Region teams. The south typically struggles to put teams into the tournament via Pool C bids but no reason to give them any help. Chris Newport (Mid-Atlantic) is another team that always seems to be in the tournament so a victories against them will always prop up the west.

Finally, we have La Verne in the New England region. Such a smart scheduling move by their coach as the NE Region always seems to do well with the Pool C bids. If La Verne can sweep through the three teams they play they’ll have a very strong out-of-region resume after 2 weeks. And, of course, it will also help the SCIAC for any team that can beat La Verne later in the season. Now, if they struggle then it just puts more pressure on the other SCIAC teams to beat La Verne.
