Friday, September 1 Match Day

Aug 31, 2017
2 min read

Alright I played around with different formats and content and this is what I’ve come up with. Each week I’ll list the conference web locations where you can find the scores to all of the games. I will also list matches that interest me with the video and live stats links (if I can find them). As we go along and this proves useful then let me know if there is a school you follow and I’ll try to always add them. NOTE – Accuracy of the links is not guaranteed.

Random Thoughts:  Some nice out-of-region matches that will set the stage for NCAA selections in November.  Brockport, Wis-Oshkosh, Calvin, Bethel, Ithaca, Wis-Eau Claire, Millikin, Elmhurst, St. Thomas, Susquehanna and U Mass-Boston are all teams that will be looking at Pool A bids or strong contenders for Pool C bids.  Even though this is day 1 these west region teams are basically marking territory not only for them but all of the teams in the west.  If Trinity can pull a shocker and take down Calvin than any team that beats Trinity reaps the reward.  In other words, the west region comes together as one when these out-of-region matches occur.  For me personally, I hate Trinity (being an ex-Southwestern dad).  Not like a joke – ha ha – I hate Trinity.  More like:  I. Hate. TRINITY!  (Except for the players, parents and coaches who are all really nice people.)  But when it comes to out-of-region, Trinity has no bigger fan than me!

I’m not a fan of these conference non-conference matches (e.g., UTT vs Hardin-Simmons) but they will shed some light.  I just think if you find yourself playing a conference opponent the first weekend it probably means you should be travelling further away!

In-region pivotal games are Chapman/TLU and UTD/La Verne.  I think Chapman and UTD should take these matches but it becomes a lot tougher to lose to an in-region team and then expect to be ranked ahead of them come RAC Ranking time.
