Friday, October 13 Match Day
Update: McMurry with a nice comeback against ETBU winning in 5 sets. Small upset with McMurry taking down UTT.
Big comeback by Pac Lu to beat Whitworth in 5-sets. The bubble teams in the West Region can breath easier but there are still games to be played in the NWC. Chapman continues to struggle as Cal Lu wins in 4.
George Fox with the upset over Pacific as Pac Lu had everything break their way tonight. Now they have to hang on the rest of the way but they should be smelling that automatic qualifier right now.

Random Thoughts: Crossover day for the ASC so lots of matches at Hardin-Simmons (and McMurry) this weekend. I don’t see any gotcha matches in the ASC today. Maybe UMHB/Belhaven? ETBU seems to be on a downswing right now so I’m not sure they will give UMHB a match today or not. UTT/McMurry might be a good one.
In the SCAC, we have conference play at Trinity and Colorado College. TLU can give teams fits and draws Trinity today.
The NWC and SCIAC play conference matches at 9 p.m. tonight (central). Pac Lu/Whitworth is a HUGE match for the NWC and for the entire West Region. A Whitworth win puts them in control for the automatic qualifier. A loss puts Pac Lu in control. Why it matters to the West Region? Well, Pac Lu has a chance at an at-large bid if they don’t win the conference where I don’t think Whitworth does. If you are a bubble team in the West then you are rooting hard for Pacific Lutheran tonight. Whittier better not overlook Pomona-Pitzer tonight. CMS and La Verne should handle business pretty well but the Cal Lu/Chapman match is a tough one. Chapman has lost 4 straight conference matches and needs to turn it around. A loss tonight puts Oxy in the coveted 4th spot and ties them for 5th with Cal Lu.
