Friday, Oct. 4 Match Day!

Updates: I admit, I’m a little reassured about UMHB with their sweep tonight.

CMS with an easy win over Caltech.

Impressive win from Chapman today. They are rolling.

Pacific forces a fifth set against Puget Sound. PLU also forces a fifth-set as Lewis & Clark are playing well not only tonight but early in conference.

Pacific wins in 5. Tough loss for the Loggers. PLU with the reverse sweep over L&C. Another tough loss in the NWC.

Redlands force a fifth set on Pomona-Pitzer. The Sagehens seem to like making things tough.

Pomona-Pitzer with the 5 set win.

Didn’t see any upsets with the Top 25. Due to travel I didn’t get to see any matches. Some good late ones.

4:00 p.m. (All times central)

Hardin-Simmons at Sul Ross State

6:00 p.m.

UMHB at Concordia

Louisiana College at UT-Dallas

9:00 p.m.

Whitworth at Willamette

Puget Sound at Pacific

Pacific Lutheran at Lewis & Clark

PLU 3 L&C 2

Whitman at Linfield

Chapman at La Verne

Pomona-Pitzer at Redlands

Whittier at Cal Lutheran

Caltech at #4 CMS

Random Thoughts:  The UMHB/Concordia match will probably tell us if UMHB will win the West Division again or if there is going to be a fight. Concordia is tough at home. After a tough opening schedule for UMHB, their recent matches have been pretty easy.

The NWC and SCIAC combine to make it a late night. Pacific/Puget Sound is one of the better match-ups of the night. Which team is going to step up and be the main challenger to Whitworth?

PLU has to be careful at Lewis & Clark.

Chapman/La Verne is another good one. Both teams would like at least the #2 seed in the SCIAC.

Tough one for Whittier at Cal Lutheran but one they could really use. Cal Lutheran really can’t afford to drop this match when looking at the regional rankings.

Normally when CMS plays Caltech they empty the bench. They need to be careful doing that with this team.
