Random Thoughts:

Just a few top notch national matches. I put the NPI for each team on the schedule line. Those numbers are from the weekend.

As for the West, we see Mary Hardin-Baylor playing a double-header today. I actually think this is a clever way to milk play dates and I wouldn’t be surprised to see this happen more often in the future.

ETBU is over at Berry where they will get Covenant and the hosts today. The Berry match might be the best chance for ETBU to lose this season prior to the NCAA Tournament. A win here might lock up an undefeated season and a Top 8 spot. The Latvians have indicated that if ETBU was to win out, they would be the top seed in the nation! That gives me some thoughts on hosting a regional which I’ll save for the Weekly Wrap-up.

HPU and HSU play an ASC match today. HSU should win at home.

The NWC have their Friday conference matches tonight. We have the big three playing non-big three so they should win. That’s PLU, Puget Sound and Whitworth. In the fourth match it’s Whitman and George Fox. This is really a must win for both teams if they want to go for that 4th spot in the conference tournament. (And that’s always going to be true for any match not involving the big 3.)

I mentioned the ETBU/Berry tilt. I think it’s worth watching just to see the power of ETBU go against the Berry man-up defense.

We have three SCIAC matches tonight. PP should beat Oxy away. CMS should beat Redlands away but I really think an upset is a possibility here. The problem with that thought is that CMS is coming off a loss and will want to get back on track and Redlands just beat PP away for a big win. Let down could happen. The other match is Cal Lu at La Verne. Yes, there could be a let down for ULV but I think they are just too good for anything CLU can bring to the table.
