Friday, Oct 25 Match Day!

Updates: I am late to the RMC/SU match, which looks like a good thing. RMC won big in set one 25-16. Yikes!

Looks like the first set to RMC was greatly helped by SU errors. Kills were there but the efficiency was not. Christina Kuras has moved to outside (from oppo). This was a change made in the TLU match that helped them get the reverse sweep.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a game at Trinity where there are no fans on the far side. That’s where we always sat.

25-19 SU as they tie up the match. RMC matched SU in errors and then tacked on some service errors, which helped my Pirates.

I have a TCU event tonight so I will miss the Trinity/SU match and the other 6 pm games.

This match in a nutshell…it took until it was 7-6 RMC before they got their first kill of the set. If SU reduces their error they have this.

“Pirates trying to sail away with it.” – announcer. Be better, Reed. 😉

Reed Rosales, “Colorado College is not a top team in the SCAC.” Paraphrasing there.

I’m just going to give Reed a hard time.

Nice replay on set point where SU gets the benefit of a call. RMC got shorted there. SU up 2-1.

RMC is not a great blocking team but are blocking a ton against SU right now. That does not bode well for Southwestern when they play one of the best blocking teams in the nation tonight.

After a second service ace we get from Reed, “She pulled out the pocket aces.” Are you proud of that Reed?

“And the Pirates swat the Yellow Jackets.” – Reed. What am I going to do with you?

Southwestern wins 3-1. They were 3-0 while I watched. Annika Flora finished with 4 kills (0.333), 23 assists, 17 digs and 1.5 total blocks.

Another great job by the Trinity broadcasting team. Loved the camera work, replays and even Reed.

TLU takes the first set but it was a close one. I’m having to step away. Late updates.

Watching on the phone when I can. Trinity looks great tonight.

The 9 pm matches have started. Howard Payne with a nice win for their first conference victory. Of course, TU did sweep my Pirates. Ouch. UMHB gets the sweep in possibly the last Cru/Comet volleyball game.

Tough loss for Springfield as they were just outside the at-large window. Nice win for Colby. I like it when NE schools challenge themselves and are successful. Talked about how Swarthmore had a chance at an at-large this week. Losing to Eastern really hurts if not kills those chances.

No Shae Delany for CMS. She also missed the Caltech match. Ashlee Sento filling in well.

Lots of 1-1 matches tonight. Updates may be tomorrow for some matches.

CMS is the first to be done. They sweep Whittier.

Good to see Mya Ray playing tonight.

Boom! Freddie Freeman!!!!! Go Dodgers! Back to back (in my world) World Series Champions Rangers and then Dodgers would be sweet.

Alright. 3 matches still going on. Update tomorrow. Use the links.

Funny. No one went 5-sets last night. If only I could have lasted a few minutes more.

Nice win for Chapman. They are in the mix in the SCIAC.

Here are the High NPI matches (55+ vs 55+) tonight:

Region X Matches:

Random Thoughts: Randolph-Macon comes to Trinity for a couple of matches today. I love you, but I really need you not to hurt my Region X teams. Thanks!

We’ve got a big one in the SCAC with Trinity and Southwestern. SU won the first match at their place. This time it’s the Friday night match at Trinity. Traditionally, that’s a day/time that brings in the students and makes the Tigers a tough foe. Combine that with Trinity playing pretty well of late and I think they take this one. Hope I’m wrong.

UTD plays at UMHB maybe for the last time in the history of volleyball?

HPU plays at LETU. Can they get their first win in conference tonight?

HSU comes to ETBU. ETBU looks pretty unbeatable but this one could be close.

Only 3 matches in the NWC tonight. GFU at Pacific is probably the best of the three. GFU probably wins this one.

Full slate of SCIAC matches. We’ll have to see if Mya Ray plays for La Verne or not. They should win regardless but the same was said for their Chapman loss. Whittier at CMS could be a good one. Whittier can play at the CMS level. CMS should take it but watch out if Whittier takes that first set. Chapman and Redlands has SCIAC Tournament ramifications. Coming off that La Verne win, Chapman has to feel confident. Redlands were down a couple of players earlier this week so we’ll see if they are fully healthy or not.
