Friday, Nov. 1 Match Day!

Updates:. Southwestern never in it for the first two sets. An 8-2 run by CMU late in set three gives them the sweep.

LeTourneau Checklist:

✔️ Most wins ever

✔️ Most conference wins ever

✔️ Highest finish in conference

❓ First conference tournament win

McMurry’s win puts them into the ASC Tournament and eliminates ETBU.

Whitworth did their part with the win. They are 2 1/2 matches up on Pacific. If Puget Sound beats Pacific tonight than they would be up 3 with 3 left and they hold the tiebreaker.

Congratulations Whitworth. Enjoy the dance.

Random Thoughts:  A couple of tournaments going on as teams either end their season or get some action in before their conference tournament.

A nice match for the West Region is Southwestern/Carnegie Mellon. CMU is ranked 19th while Southwestern hasn’t been able to beat a ranked team this season. If the Pirates can win this (a tall order) it would strengthen the West Region’s reputation. Not to mention give some teams a common opponent advantage with CMU.

Whitworth needs one more win or one more loss by Pacific and I can see both of those results happening tonight. If either result occurs, Whitworth wins the NWC title and their Pool A bid since they don’t have a tournament. Update – My math is bad. Magic number is 2. They would need both results to clinch.

Linfield/Whitman is a battle for the bottom of the NWC. No one likes to be at the bottom so I’d expect both teams to go all out in this one.

The SCIAC is done except for the ordering of the tournament.

Congratulations to all of the seniors having their day today.
