Director: Shawn Levy

Starring: Ryan Reynolds, Jodie Comer, Taika Waititi

A bank teller discovers that he’s actually an NPC inside a brutal, open world video game.

Director Shawn Levy did an incredible job bringing this unique film to the screen. This was so much better than expected!

Guy (Ryan Reynolds) lives in Free City. He is an ordinary guy living an ordinary existence. He is working in a bank, and in search of the girl of his dreams. Yup, pretty ordinary. But look a bit closer, and you’ll find there is nothing ordinary about Guy! And who is Blue Shirt Guy…?

I was pretty darn confused in the beginning, as the film looked like a video game, and I couldn’t understand why characters didn’t react to the weird goings on around them. This is one of those films where you can’t say much without spoilers. Since I don’t want to do spoilers, I’m going to keep this review short and you simply have to see for yourself what ‘Free Guy’ is all about.

The visuals are amazing. ‘Free Guy’ truly is unlike anything I’ve seen before. Apart from all the action, adventure and fantasy, they even managed to make this a romance film. And Ryan Reynolds really is one of the most handsome men ever to walk this planet. I also loved the score/soundtrack. The premise itself was also very interesting, and excellently executed.

‘Free Guy’ is a cinematic experience. Gamers, especially, will love this movie.

‘Free Guy’ earned $331.5 million on a $120 million budget. It received 30 award nominations including an Oscar nomination for Best Achievement in Visual Effects.

Would I watch it again? Yes.
