Food Folly Fotos
In my cookbook library, I have many ‘vintage’ cookbooks, advertiser’s recipe booklets and such. Part of the fun is leafing through the pages, particularly from the 1950’s and 1960’s. Sometimes it’s hard to tell what the cookbook authors were thinking, when you look at the photos and illustrations accompanying the recipes.
I have put together what I call “Food Folly Fotos” with my own tongue-in-cheek captions. After looking at a few of them, you’ll be tempted to come up with your own caption and please do submit them in your comments! Most of them just beg for a remark of some sort. Have fun!

“I just love a game of hide n’ seek, don’t you? Who’s it this time?”

“Are you kidding me? I’ve got half a hard-boiled egg up my nose, I’m badly in need of an orthodontist and my eyes look like I was on an all-nighter. On top of it all, I have to sit in the middle of a luau and look stupid”

Opening scene from “Invasion of the Turkey Snatchers”. See the little pods? There are little, cloned thingies inside, growing, growing, growing until they BURST OPEN AND EAT YOU UP!

And they came from near and far to worship the Devil’s Tower of chicken liver, after scaling the treacherous ring of olive boulders…

“This must be the origin of ‘too many cooks spoil the broth’…no wait, ‘too many chiefs and not enough Indians’…aw heck, soup’s on!”
My apologies to the cookbook authors, the manufacturers of the products and to anyone else out there, whom I might offend with my captions. All in fun, all in fun.
