Cat is a solitary animal, but as its home is devastated by a great flood, he finds refuge on a boat populated by various species, and will have to team up with them despite their differences.

‘Flow’ is an animated Latvian disaster/survival film. With no dialogue whatsoever, I suppose one could refer to it as a universal language film. It’s interesting that we can follow a film very well without a single word.

We follow the adventures of a cat during a great flood. When Earth is covered in water, Cat finds refuge on an abandoned boat drifting on the water. Also on the boat, is a carefree capybara, and a lemur who likes to collect things. Soon, an adorable, playful Labrador joins them, as well as an outcast secretary bird.

Against all odds, these five animals must stick together in order to survive. With numerous funny moments, the film is not all doom and gloom. The animation is fantastic, and the animal movements are amazingly realistic. This is an absolutely gorgeous film and I loved it!

At the time of writing this review ‘Flow’ already earned 42 award nominations, winning 22 including Best Original Music, Best Feature, Best Animated Film, and Best International Film.

Would I watch it again? Yes.
