Some of the largest industries in Boston include health care, higher education, and finance and insurance. For Fairview, Pennsylvania native and McDowell Lady Trojans swimming alumni, Jordan Nuzback, she’s experienced two of those industries since relocating to the Greater Boston area in the fall of 2021.

Currently a sophomore for the Bentley University Falcons women’s swimming team, she’s diving into her education as a corporate finance and accounting major. Finding Bentley was her own doing as during her high school days, she researched top business and accounting schools based off of the times that were near some of her top times.

Through her research, she discovered Bentley as an elite finance and accounting school that also competed at a high level in swimming. A Division II program in the Northeast 10, the team finished second in the conference on the women’s side during the 2021-22 season, with Nuzback winning her first gold in the 200 individual medley.

Recruited to be mainly a butterfly and backstroker, she was asked to give the individual medley a try during the middle part of the season. After seeing her performance, the decision was made to let her remain in the event, leading to what she hopes will be the first of many golds in her college career.

Winning and performing at a high-level is not uncommon for the Erie County native as her high school career included four letters, four years of swimming at states, two years as a team captain, breaking the District 10 record for the 100 meter butterfly as a junior with a time of 56.8, being named a scholar-athlete, and being named a NISCA Girls High School Academic All-American.

“The group of people in my life motivated me and have kept me driven. I have so many positive people who have been in my life including my teammates, coaches, faculty, athletic directors, and booster club members. Everything from t-shirts that were made to pasta parties that we had, it all made me so social and fortunate. I’m thankful to have been a part of a program in high school that gives student-athletes like me an opportunity to succeed.”

So far at Bentley University, she feels the athletic department has been doing their part to allow student-athletes to be involved in many different opportunities and to be celebrated for their sacrifices and dedication to their sport. The institution has “Falcon Friday’s” in which the student body is encouraged to wear Bentley University apparel to show support for the school and athletic department. Aside from this, she’s been able to take part in opportunities like being an orientation leader, participate in a Habitat for Humanity project, and be a Best Buddy for youth who are in special education programs  in the Boston area.

There are a lot of reasons to celebrate the things Jordan Nuzback has already accomplished, but there’s sure to be much more to come. Thank you for the chance to highlight your accomplishments both in and out of swimming, Jordan! Best of luck as you gear up for your second season for the Falcons 🏊‍♀️
