End of June Update

Jun 23, 2012

Our worst fears with the expected supply of apples, pears and quince are now confirmed. A s

eason of late maturity, very limited supply of some apples and none at all of many varieties, is ahead. The quality of the fruit remains to be seen. More sunshine is needed for flavour of everything including raspberries which will be delayed until early July. A very few cherries may be around next week.

.

From the greenhouse we have been pleased with our carrots now that the mice are under control – thanks to the cat! The round french beans have just begun and will be continuing into August, Broad beans outside will soon be ready – probably with the raspberries.

.

We have issued a leaflet about the apples we may have available to send out nationally. There won’t be many and the range of variety is very restricted this year. This can be e mailed if you would like a copy.

Our raised beds are looking good, with our Tomatoes and French Beans coming along nicely.
