Embrace Life

Thanks to @zeroice for sending me the link on Twitter:

Oh wow, this really made me tear up. Having already lost my beloved father and eldest sister to illness, I can only try to imagine how losing a loved one through a seemingly random, unnecessary and sudden accident (say, a car crash) could feel. A road accident is random, unnecessary, sudden AND preventable. What really touched me to the core is the idea that if we could, we would all love to be given the power to protect our most beloved ones from harm with our very own hands…but weren’t. So we all need to take matters into our own hands and make sure we buckle up. I’ve heard of too many accidents where people have said had the victims worn their seatbelts they MIGHT have survived. I’d take an unsure survival over a definite fatality any day. When my sister was deathly ill of leukemia, I distinctly remember thinking to myself, if I had the power to dive into my sister’s bloodstream myself, and individually pick out every cancer cell with my own fingers, I would. But I didn’t, so I couldn’t. This just reminded me of that fantasy and I feel relief seeing this pseudo video family escape a tragedy, yet I feel profound sadness remembering how I couldn’t do the same for my own sister.
