Elise Cacchione Gets Redemption in Senior Year; Hopes to Continue Winning Ways at Seton Hill

Disappointment. It’s something every athlete and person has felt in their lives. In sports, it could be from a loss, playing poorly, being injured, or a multitude of other reasons. Most commonly, it comes from a loss. When you compete, you lose sometimes. It happens, but redemption and learning from mistakes is something that is bigger than sports.
For Elise Cacchione and the rest of the Lady Bison girls’ soccer program at Fort LeBoeuf, they were ready for redemption after falling short in the District 10 title game in 2021. It has been 22 years since the program was last on top of District 10, but that changed in recent days as the team won D10 with a 1-0 victory over General McLane.

“I had full faith in my team and myself that if we put the work in then we could accomplish anything,” said Cacchione, who scored the lone goal in the victory. The soccer program at Fort LeBoeuf is something special and this title is going to help so much.”
With a trip to the state playoffs secured, Cacchione has not yet played her last game of her soccer career. In fact, she’s far from the end of this journey in soccer that began at the age of four. The Waterford native is off to Seton Hill University to continue her college career next year where she intends to major in business (marketing and sports marketing are likely suitors).

“Seton Hill University not only has great academics, but an amazing soccer program. After meeting Coach Blewitt and the players on campus, I knew it was the right fit for me. I will be graduating early in January to start my academics and soccer career at Seton Hill this winter.”
So far in her soccer career, the Erie County native has been named elected Athlete of the Week multiple times throughout her high school career and helped the program to four straight regional titles. Outside of sports, she’s been inducted into the National Honor Society, is a Magna Cum Laude graduate. serves as the Student Council President, is a leader in Blue Crew (Prep-rally Group), and was a member of sophomore and junior Class Council.
Though her high school days will be over in less than two months, Elise Cacchione has made so many core memories from playing high school soccer as well as club soccer for the Erie Admirals.
“Some of my favorite memories would have to be overnight camps in the summer with Fort LeBoeuf, traveling to Chicago for the National Playoffs with my club team, and having the lone goal in the D10 Championship game to win the D10 title with all my best friends.”
The Lady Bison forward is excited for her chance to play college soccer, but acknowledges she is ready to play any position that is asked of her at the next level. With coaches like Brian Kowalczyk and Sam Toaga, she feels these two and others before them have shaped her to be the well rounded that the next level will require her to be.
It’s not yet a goodbye from high school, but soon it will be. This final run and few weeks will always be remembered and will not be taken for granted for Elise Cacchione. Good luck in the state playoffs and at Seton Hill, Elise! ⚽️
