EDDY GRANT – I Don’t Want To Dance (live) | Glastonbury (2008)
Eddy Grant is a British-Guyanese musician, singer, and songwriter known for his contributions to reggae, pop, and electronic music. Born Edmond Montague Grant on March 5, 1948, in Plaisance, British Guiana (now Guyana), he became one of the pioneers in blending Caribbean rhythms with Western pop music, achieving international acclaim during his career.
Grant moved to London with his family at the age of 12. His interest in music blossomed during his teenage years, leading him to join the nascent British music scene. In 1968, he co-founded The Equals, one of the first interracial pop bands in the UK. The group gained fame with hits like “Baby Come Back”, which reached the top of the charts in the UK and internationally.
I don’t want to dance Dance with you baby no more I’ll never do something to hurt you, though Oh but the feeling is bad The feeling is bad
I love your personality But I don’t want our love on show Sometimes I think it’s insanity Girl the way you go
With all of the guys on the corner Oh baby, you’re the latest trick Oh, you seem to have their number Look they’re dancing still
I don’t want to dance Dance with you baby no more I’ll never do something to hurt you, though Oh but the feeling is bad The feeling is bad
Baby now the party’s over For us, so I’ll be on my way Now that the things which moved me Are standing still
I know it’s only superstition Baby, but I won’t look back Even though I feel your music Baby that is that
I don’t want to dance Dance with you baby no more I’ll never do something to hurt you, though Oh but the feeling is bad The feeling is bad
Don’t want to dance Don’t want to dance Don’t want to dance Don’t want to dance Don’t want to dance Don’t want to dance Don’t want to dance
I don’t want to dance Dance with you baby no more I’ll never do something to hurt you, though Oh but the feeling is bad The feeling is bad
