Dreams – 8/16

8/16/23:

I was standing in a hospital lobby waiting to see my mom upstairs. The lobby had all sorts of old people in chairs/waiting. Most of them were clergy/nuns. There was a nun sitting in big heavy white robes to my right and crowding me on the left was a fat guy taller than me wearing all black. Then Leo Enlow walked in, did a 360 and walked right in front of me, stared at me as he walked past and said nothing, then he did the Catholic hand-thing to an old guy sitting and wearing gray clothes that looked like the Pope’s. I didn’t want to be where he was so I left–at the same time as a chunky woman who said “Dietz, you never change.” The road we were walking had deep gashes in it and potholes filled with rain. I got to my SUV and couldn’t get in because a school bus was parked right up against it. The woman was getting into a yellow school short bus that had a driver waiting for her. I yelled out to show I was trapped but the other bus drove off, then her bus drove off as she said “They just wanted to use the road pivots.” I looked around and didn’t understand, but now there was snow everywhere, my car was gone, and I was in the middle of a busy intersection on a concrete island and I couldn’t remember where the hospital was.

[There were two other dreams–those were not remembered in the morning.]

8/16/22:

[only a fragment remains] There were boats out on the ocean. They all had giant megaphones that looked like sideways road cones–and the boats were all crewed by congressmen.

8/16/21:

I was hired to be the volleyball coach at Iowa Wesleyan. They had a new gym where the coach sat on a rotation chair in the middle of a bunch of courts [reminds me of the setup from the James Caan movie ‘Rollerball’]. The intriguing part of the job was that Wesleyan schools could borrow scholarships from one another just as long as all of them were used nationwide.

8/16/13:

I was walking through a European town with cobblestone roads along with Tony Dungy and Bryan Dirks. We were discussing the Indianapolis Colts and that they traded for Reggie and Michael Bush so they could run the ball. Tony thought it was a great idea. Bryan was just hungry. I said Peyton Manning needed to throw every play and I showed them a book of stats in a bookstore called “Why Manning Should Throw All the Time” to prove my point.
