Dreams – 8/1

8/1/24: My high school changed hjow it did graduations. Students started at the far end of the old football field dressed in formal wear and would light fireworks or set something on fire before entering the field while parents/audience watched from Sunset Dr. Then there would be a procession with the graduates walking two-by-two to the front followed by “principals emeritus” which wound up being Suzanne Johnson and John Engelmann.

8/1/23: There was a Region 24 volleyball match going on in my mom’s dining room–which was big enough for a court and a short but tall set of bleachers. Danville was playing Frontier. I was watching and saw Parkland and LLCC ready to come in and I didn’t want to be seen or talk to anybody from those schools, but I couldn’t figure out how I could get from the bleachers to the hallway where the bathroom/mom’s bedroom was without being seen.

8/1/22 #1: I was in a crowded room–the basement ‘playroom’ from my mom’s house. We were trapped in the room and we knew that five of us were vampires, so that we couldn’t turn away from anyone else. Everyone stood back-to-back in groups of four, looking like a plus sign. Everyone moved towards the back corner where we knew a freight elevator would open–and that once the elevator opened, there would be a huge battle. We kept waiting, but the elevator wouldn’t open.

8/1/22 #2: There was a contagion going around turning everyone into zombies–the 28 Days Later type. Everyone was scared because the particles causing you to become a zombie were visible to the naked eye floating in the air and that if you got too close to them, they would start chasing you.

8/1/21: I was a passenger on a train. It had no windows–it was like a little kid train taking parents/toddlers around at a zoo or something you’d ride as a tourist at Disney. It was traveling through Davenport–except Locust St. wasn’t a road, but a river and the train was following a winding, serpentine track suspended over it. The engineer was also playing rock songs from the 1960s on a calliope. The tour guide was standing with a microphone on a flat car talking about everything we passed…which was amazing because she was blind. Then she asked “Jimmy” (the engineer) to play “some of that good vaudeville stuff” and the music changed. I realized the songs were the cues for her and what she should be talking about since she couldn’t actually see anything.

8/1/20: I got a registered letter in the mail from my girlfriend. She “needed” me to meet her at Lake Land where she was dropping her son (not her son’s vehicle) off for repairs in their auto/engine shop. It sounded like an emergency, so I immediately headed there. It was completely dark out because it was 5am. When I got there, it turned out Lakeland had enclosed the school in a pickup/dropoff/pit stop complex, roofed and everything…like an airport(???)…except at the far end, it became the loading docks with no parking or exit. I got out of my car anyways and asked if there was a woman with a son around anywhere for repairs and a guy with a clipboard just stared at me, looked down, and told me he’d help if I ‘got the cart’. So I went to the administration office and asked for a cart. No one helped, so I climbed on top of the counter and grabbed a cart and tugged it over to the other side. It was blue with a box on top (with no lid) and Kleenex inside. Coaches from Lincoln Land (not Lake Land) then helped me push the cart back towards the auto shop. When we got there, the cart was so hot on the inside that the Kleenex were melted. The guy with the clipboard shook his head. In the dream I thought “You know they are real Kleenex because they melted, not like generic facial tissues.” [This dream brought me to total wakefulness when it occurred.]
