Dreams – 7/2
7/2/25: I was invited into a white house where there was a gathering in a dining room. It was some sort of religious dinner. There was also a guy outside on a porch/balcony looking for a way to get into the house which was upsetting the person in charge at the dinner table. I decided to go to to the door to let this other guy in. I went onto the porch and realized it was snowing and really cold and the guy out there didn’t have a coat. He didn’t say anything and didn’t go inside–I realized he just wanted me to not be inside.
7/2/24 #1: I was driving the Challenger on Hwy 24 north of Taylorville when I stopped next to a school bus carrying a team being threatened by a male Taylorville coach. I warned the coach off. He left, I left, and was driving down an alley that was only as wide as me. I was suddenly a pedestrian and ducked my head back like I was in The Matrix as a lance/pole came towards me from around the corner. I leaned forward, catching the pole with my neck, twisted like I was a fulcrum, and threw the Taylorville teacher into a wall with trash all around–even though the alley wasn’t wide enough for any of that. There was a woman with him. She ran away and I noticed the male teacher was wearing a biker gang jacket–and he was also dead. 7/2/24 #2: I was with Picard and Geordi LaForge in a hospital with glowing white lights. Everyone was wearing green scrubs–and weren’t human. We were being stared at. Picard said, “I’ll fix this”, walked into a room, then he and LaForge came back out looking like the aliens. LaForge disappeared. I followed Picard but the aliens were now watching closely. To shake them, Picard went into an office. An alien tried to follow, but Picard had locked the door. Alarms sounded and I was in an area with a swimming pool trying to sneak away.
7/2/23 #1: I was on a tour of a house that was like the secondary building where I went to HS. Each room was set up like a museum with red velvet ropes set up to keep people away from exhibits. Each room had a single exhibit–an ‘adult’ magazine imported from Britain. I kept asking why the museum didn’t have an ‘Al Bundy Big ‘Uns’ exhibit but no one would answer.
7/2/23 #2: I was at a college cross-country meet but nothing was happening because the person in charge was upset–“Paris HS can’t come” and he handed me a newspaper article explaining why. I couldn’t read it or make out any details on the photograph, but I knew he was telling me the truth. Someone yelled my name behind me and I saw Brook McKinney and a bunch of kids I taught in HS standing at the top of a slope outside an elementary school building. I walked towards them and the students yelled “Congratulations on being engaged!” and left, ignoring me explain I couldn’t be engaged because I just had my thirtieth anniversary [which isn’t actually until the 24th of this month]. I took one step and was at the school door. The students were all there and they turned and help up signs that said “THRIVE!” and then they were gone.
7/2/23 #3: [fragment only] I was in a compact car driving, realized I had gone the wrong way and started backing up through a bunch of curves and stop signs. I saw a police car at one point, so I waited an especially long time at stop signs to continue driving backwards.
7/2/22: I was in an all-white hotel room. No one else was there. I looked at the room service menu and it was blank at which point I realized I was trapped. The dream went from third-person to first-person when I decided to escape. First I needed to find clothes because I was undressed. Before I could do that, I was grabbed by arms from behind. The arms were ‘solid latex’ and put me in a sleeper hold. I voice said ‘Oh no you don’t.”
7/2/21: I was laying sans-clothes in the top bunk of a bedroom watching a volleyball match on TV. It turned out it was Lincoln Land playing the Evil Team that was as usual skirting rules…the match was not in a gym, however. It was being played on a beach alongside the ocean and there was a massive storm going on so the TV cameras had drops of water on them affecting the view. LLCC’s setter set a ball–from left to right, and was whistled for coming under the net–even though video replay showed no one was around her.
I yelled at the TV for LLCC to challenge the call but the coach–an alum named Kiersten who was coaching in a safety-orange sports bra and dress shorts–couldn’t hear me. She said the storm was too loud. So, I got out of bed, wrapped the crimson sheet around me like a toga and walked into the TV screen to go to the game (reminding me of Mercer from ‘Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep’…and the question of suffering). I told Kiersten again why she should protest. The official was sitting on a red velvet throne and waved away a protest saying the setter had gone under the net. I told him that the video review was permitted because LLCC had five challenges remaining and that no player was near the setter at the time and he needed to apply college rules rather than high school. The other official standing there then asked, “There are different rules for college?”
7/2/17 #1: Trying to decide on a game to play and giving explanations. Julie kept interrupting, until finally I said, “Fine, you explain them.” She couldn’t. She had never played Star Fleet Battles, Totaler Krieg, or Wallenstein. Since she couldn’t explain, we couldn’t play.
7/2/17 #2: I was somewhere with Eric/Baron/Larry. Erik Johnson joined us late because he was driving with ‘his tire a little low’–we looked and 2/3 of the tire was missing. The gas station was closed, so Erik decided to walk into a nearby house, saying “It’s okay. We play games online together. I’m ‘Lock’ and he’s ‘Pick’. That’s our team name: Lockpick.” The rest of us decided going in to someone else’s home we didn’t know was illegal, so we left Erik there to go get pizza.
7/2/17 #3: I went to a museum on American slavery. There was a dinner. At the dinner, I said “I wish we could get past racism.” Someone who went to my high school, stood up, pointed at me, shrieked (just like in Invasion of the Body Snatchers), and yelled, “He’s one of the oppressive white males here to destroy us.” Everyone harumphed (like in Blazing Saddles) until I said back, “But she’s white and a billionaire!” Then everyone slapped me on the back and asked what I thought about President Pence.
7/12/10: Last night I decided to climb up a cliff here in Sigel. I did it with Keith Jackson (who is in great shape for an 80yr old announcer). We wanted to watch the Sigel 500 but didn’t have a good view. It was a close race–Jeff Gordon lost to “The King” from Pixar’s CARS.
