Dreams – 6/8

6/8/25 #1: I was living with refugees/survivors in a forest in Montana. We were stockpiling wood and an old guy was passing a ball back and forth with a little kid up and down a slope using hockey sticks. The dream cut to the view of guys on toboggans with plows on their front sliding up to a fence of orange plastic and firing rifles into the survivors. There were screams and then it was dark and I was in my mom’s small front room holding a sniper rifle. There were only a few people alive and a lot of corpses. I moved to the front big room without my rifle. I picked up an M16 and used the scope to see a body under the dining room table. In the kitchen, I saw three bad guys. One of them was Pete (my stepfather). I sighted-in on one of them and Pete said “You better not pull that trigger, Jim, or I’ll kick your ass.” I pulled it three times and said ‘BANG!’ but nothing happened. Pete got up, started walking towards me. I ran to get the sniper rifle and he said “Yeah, you better get ready. I’m whoopin’ you.” I grabbed the sniper rifle, raised it, but it was out of ammo. As I swung it around to use as a club, I realized Julie was sitting on the floor in the other room reading a magazine and the other survivors didn’t seem to see me or Pete, either. 6/8/25 #2: [fragment only] I was standing on bleachers at my graduation. It was outdoors and I was facing into a valley.

6/8/24 #1: I was in the Challenger in the leftmost of three left-turn lanes on “Kimberley Road”. When I turned left, it was suddenly a shopping mart parking lot and my lane was right up against the front of the building. I couldn’t get my car to turn right to change lanes or leave the parking lot. 6/8/24 #2: I parked in a gravel lot behind the LLCC gymnasium–which was actually a metal shed. I started walking around it but the grass had puddles and a ton of mud. I tried to be quiet because I didn’t want to be seen by anybody. Then I heard noises from within the gym and the east wall rolled up like a garage door and there were yapping dogs who started to follow me–but not approach. They got the bottom halves of their bodies covered in mud. I kept walking and the west end of the building opened and a bunch of parents and little kids poured out because it was a summer daycare program in there.

6/8/23: I was in a living room talking to friends and they were shocked I was driving to LA to receive a reward rather than fly. I kept saying “I like driving” to them and they wouldn’t believe it. Then I was in my Challenger driving down a narrow rural road. It was cold and rainy and I was glad I wasn’t on a motorcycle because my sweater would be 50lbs from retaining water. I drove past an abandoned cube that was all glass on its front with a pickup/trailer next to it. I drove further and looked at a house on my right and I touched the number “1” that appeared in front of my eyes like a HUD and realized I’d rang the house’s doorbell and the residents would be confused because no one was close to their house except I knew the house was empty. All of them were because of the aliens. The aliens were mice/bats that got inside your head and took over. I wasn’t in my car then and was looking in the mirror and thought I saw someone behind me, so I punched at his throat but punched my own instead. In the mirror, part of the face broke off and I could see a bat inside with giant teeth, so I grabbed my own head and squished down but that didn’t kill the bat. I realized I was in a dream and started running away from the mirror. Everything turned black and white and the bat followed and I knew it wanted me to run towards other people because that was how they found other humans to take over.

6/8/22 #1: I was at a game convention but the only game set up was some sort of Warhammer game. All of the miniatures were flesh-colored and felt like they were made of flesh. The terrain was all poorly constructed. Each figure was customized and individual, one had a Cthulhu head on the body of Robert E. Lee. I wanted to play a prototype I made with a friend that was about the Civil War but we were embarrassed because it would’ve been totally different than what everyone else was playing. We wound up doing it anyway and talked about Pat Connolly’s brother who was absent because he had a heart attack while designing T-shirts ‘in upstate New York.’

6/8/22 #2: I was talking with Mrs. Miller, my 3rd grade teacher. I was at a desk–and I think I was 3rd grade size–and she was in a booth like an information desk. She was telling me strategies for making sure kids behave. She said outside, you send them to the far end of the football field and let no one come within a hundred yards. Inside, you send them to the far end of the hallway, but always someplace where you could keep visual contact. They could come back once they were broken spiritually. I asked if Mrs. Kemmerer and Mrs. Loula did the same thing and she said “No, each teacher has their own path to enlightenment.” I blinked and I was in an office and a faculty person came in and said “Ho, ho! Do you see the spread? This is why you teach!” and then I saw trays and tubs of pastries and candies lined up on a table behind some books and that you couldn’t see them unless you knew they were there. I didn’t tell him I wasn’t faculty.

6/8/21 #1: I was in the English offices at Iowa State except it was a massive waiting room like a bus terminal. A bunch of faculty came in and I realized I had no pants on. I started trying to put pants on but couldn’t get my right leg in. They didn’t pay attention to me though because they were complimenting the secretary. She had shaved her son bald and tattooed his head to make him look like he had brain cancer(!) and was certain to win the 3rd grade end-of-year costume party.

6/8/21 #2: People were dying and turning into zombies (of course). When they were dying, they’d start spitting up acidic green bile that would cake on their chins and necks. I decided to go to Hy-Vee for food and ran into a couple friends. One dipped his finger in chocolate pudding at the salad bar and on the way out shoplifted a massive ice-cream cone with sprinkles and stuff on it. An employee saw him and smiled, saying “Screw the man, baby.” Outside the door, my friend said it would be his last ice cream because he was dying. We all got sleepy and when I woke up, he had the green bile on him so I left quietly to not wake him. I have no idea where the female friend went.

6/8/14: Julie decided to load a vending machine with nail polish packages (that could double as lipstick) instead of cigarettes…turns out there are instructions for how to make that conversion inside of all cigarette machines….go figure.
