Dreams – 5/8

5/8/25 #1: I was in my grandparents’ living room except it wasn’t in Keokuk. We were watching the Cubs on television when a special report broke in. The special report was the Cubs game which was being played in Rome. Rome had had an earthquake which had encircled the Coliseum (where the game was being played) and it had fallen “100 feet straight down”. I wondered if anyone survived. 5/8/25 #2: I was in a skybox at a Bears game against the Lions–who had Deion Sanders and his son playing. Shadeur threw Deion a pass, but it turned out to be a lateral that hit off the grass. A flag was thrown for some reason then Deion ran a long ways and it turned out he didn’t have the ball. It was still on the ground and people raced to recover it. Deion fell to the ground and I wondered if he was shot. 5/8/25 #3: I was flying in a helicopter with my dad as pilot (though I never could see his face). We were heading to LA and I had questions I wanted to ask, but we were flying under power lines, so I didn’t want to distract him. When we were past the lines, I could see LA ahead and that it was “dawn” over its skyline. Dad rotated the helicopter 360-degrees and I saw there were storm clouds everywhere else. He was low on fuel so he took it down to a Kwik Trip that had space for aircraft. Once he landed, I went inside to use the bathroom. It was in the process of being cleaned but I went to use it anyway. The bathroom had a huge swinging gate (like for horses in a stable) made of translucent plastic. When I was done and was walking back, one of the mechanics stopped me and said “Pat would be surprised you’re here.” I THOUGHT he meant Pat Connolly but he didn’t. He took a selfie with me with a phone the size of a stamp. I realized he was thinking of someone else when he started talking about purchasing an auction lot. I told him and he was unconvinced. At the helicopter, dad had ‘put the rotors down’ and was showing Jaclyn Stephens and Kristinia Epplin (former students of mine from 25 years ago) how helicopters worked.

5/8/24: [fragment only] It was a top-down view. I was with other people and we were looking for rifles called “Jombloys”.

5/8/22 #1: I was in the Iowa State Memorial Union in the old side room that had vending machines except now it was a huge space. Iwas taking a class on making game prototypes and had car parts on my table–it was one of the tables with a checkerboard printed directly on the table. I had no ideas what to do. A former student (Dallas S.) came up and said he’d forgive me if I loaned him some change so he could go to Kwik Shop. I didn’t have any. He got mad and picked up a dime and four pennies from the table next to me and said I was a liar. He didn’t believe that wasn’t my table and walked away talking about the Kennedy conspiracy to himself.

5/8/22 #2: I was on Foster–in Friley. We had a big locker room with benches to sit on. Everyone was there. I needed to shower and started taking off clothes and had everyone watching me, so I kept on my underwear and socks and wrapped a blue towel around my torso. It was really long so I couldn’t tie it and had to hold it in place. I walked down the hall to the bathroom but the hall was also a HS hallway. I ignored the stares and went in the bathroom. Steve H. was there sitting on the concrete floor. He wanted to talk “War in Europe” with me while I showered because he figured out how to get a 2-1 with the Germans in North Africa.

5/8/21: I was forced to go back to school where I went to HS–and live in the building as well. I lived on the top floor and had a window overlooking the gymnasium. It was early morning so I headed to the basement for breakfast. The stairs down were very dark. The cafeteria was in the old bowling alley/science lab except it extended lengthwise for as far as I could see. I walked past people I knew including VB coach Dipen Patel and girls I knew were LLCC alumni…but they were all HS aged. I didn’t know any of their names though so I just kept saying to everyone “Hey, nice day, isn’t it?” Someone then asked why I was being so nice unlike normal and I told them it was better than going around telling people to eff off. There was a line of little kids at all the soda fountains and there were no more small cups. There wasn’t even a drinking fountain. I realized it sucked to be me and have to live in such a crappy place.
