Dreams – 4/8

4/8/25: I was reading a flyer, white ink, blue background on white paper–it was from a company called “Come In” and said anyone could “come and hit 55 fly balls in luscious Wrigley Field. A gate opened behind home plate and I walked in, then suddenly I was on the right field foul line as part of the umpiring crew. We spotted an ‘undercover umpire’ on the field (a woman). We went to confront her but had a police dog stop us. Then it became a giant 10+ ft tall dog with red diamonds for eyes, so we laid down and froze in place.

4/8/24 #1: I was in a small car, mostly in the backseat and leaning over into the driver’s seat. The problem was I couldn’t actually move because the car was inside a narrow room with white walls and it was capped on the front/back (I think–because I couldn’t see in those directions) so no one knew I was there…and the car was shrinking around me. I wanted to scream but I couldn’t. 4/8/24 #2:

I was driving west in Ames, heading towards Iowa State. I came to the road that would lead north to Friley Hall (Sheldon–which was Westgate’s road) and it had been renovated into an eight-lane divided highway. There was no one out on the road and the road was gradually climbing up a big hill. The buildings south of campus had been replaced with parking lots and tree groves.

4/8/23 #1: I was sitting in a prison cafeteria. All the prisoners wore blue. I was there to observe and had been told to be careful not to tell people why I was there. I sat at a table waiting for food lines to shorten when a woman sat next to me. She was in a blue dress–she was a former student of mine named Nicole S. I realize there were several other female former students walking around but they were all in orange instead. I got up and went to a food line but when I got to the doorway, the server said “This is the lean lunch line now. You need to go to the other.” So I walked to the other line which was outside thru a door. Nicole S. joined me because “I’m trying to blend in. No one will see a woman in blue.” When I got to the front of the line, the manager laughed and said, “I’m sorry. We’re now the lean lunch line. You need to go back to the first line. They’ll take care of you.”

4/8/23 #2: I was playing some sort of video game with old graphics. I had to move 7 people from my treetop down to the ground and then to new treetops in order to win. There wasn’t room on the other trees, so you had to ‘fight’ to be on top and each of the people had ratings for speed and tenacity. If they were pushed off, they regenerated back at the ‘home truee’. Sometimes fruit popped up on the tops of trees which gave extra abilities.

4/8/22: I was at a party in my grandparents’ house though it was early morning. I sat down on the couch (which was right up against the kitchen) and realized I was sitting right next to Katie Couric. She said something to me, then I snuggled against her and said “I’ve had a crush on you for 40 years.” She nodded and then we were both standing and I realized I was wearing a bathrobe. By that point, me and Couric were dating. The party was over and we were talking about Edwin Neumann [from NBC] and the old CBS News at noon and that there weren’t pure news shows any more. This made Couric sad. That’s when my wife appeared carrying a basket or ice cooler and I told Couric, “We can’t date any more.”

4/8/21 #1: I was driving my old LTD in Davenport. Steve Schenkelberg was along for the drive. We were parking near the house on Marquette but there wasn’t room on the south side of Lombard, so I took my car up onto the sidewalk on the north side of the street and parked it halfway up onto the sidewalk. I made sure to leave enough room for Steve to climb out the back (though not sure how since the LTD had only two doors and I was climbing out the driver’s side…). We got out of the car and I left the window down. I looked back inside and my sister had put an armrest down and opened it–half opened to the left, half to the right so there were three compartments there. She’d put her cigarettes and gum wrappers in there. I was not happy.

4/8/21 #2: I was driving to volleyball to watch Steve Schenkelberg…a 56 yr old man…try out to make an 18-u girls volleyball team in Shelbyville at the Rapid Fire gymnasium. The problem was I was driving my old Saturn and as I neared Shelbyville, I saw they replaced the highway with a giant staircase my car couldn’t go up. If I was going to watch the tryout, I would have to walk up the world’s longest staircase. I decided I was better off driving somewhere else and that I’d just send Steve my best wishes in a text message.

4/8/20: I was working security at a banquet after leaving my grandparents’ house in Keokuk–where I was a little kid in the start of the dream–and while I was standing at the entrance, I saw Libby Speaks sitting and talking with Maggie Crowder at a table near the door. Then I realized all the tables were set up with people seated like the portrait of the Last Supper. As I realized the set up, everyone started raising hands–nothing was said–because apparently there was an auction going on being run by a mime. I ran forward to see what was on auction, but I was a little kid again and they wouldn’t let me close. The item just sold turned out to be a woman’s pendant. The next one was the newest X-Box controller called the “Rifle-2” designed for “snipers of all ages”.
