Dreams – 4/6

4/6/25 #1: I was walking into a kitchen, but there wasn’t much room to move around. John M., softball coach at a juco, was standing in a refrigerator doorway and wouldn’t let me get past him to a table. Finally at the table, I was holding a small portion-cup of a brown liquid (like au jus) that I was going to use to clean the table which got everyone there to start yelling at me. 4/6/25 #2: I was on a road/cut in a ravine in some mountains. There was a VB game going on and I was the R2. I noticed after the play that a team in aqua-blue used seven players. I went to tell the up-official, but I could barely see her sitting on the mountain top. I got told that Sherri was the R2 (Sherri Helman from Ohio State circa 1994) who appeared right behind me in a black tracksuit. I said “It’s on my schedule” and showed a paper to the R1 and then made my report about too many players in the game.

4/6/23: I was in the underbelly of a stadium sitting at a high-top table with a notebook and I was writing. There were other tables, but they were empty. I was sitting near a support pillar–two pillars forward, I could see a popcorn machine/station that was surrounded by yellow safety plastic (like is put on the top of ballpark fences). I was there to watch a sport championship later, but in the meantime, the stadium was hosting an ice skating competition. I realized the ice skating team competing was from Evil Green/Yellow Juco. Then the athletic director from that school came up to me and started talking, but I couldn’t understand what he was saying, so I just nodded. That’s when I realized I was wearing a yellow polo shirt (and blue slacks) and he thought I was there to support them.

4/6/22: I was let go from my coaching job and had to clean out my office. I put stuff in a rusty red/brown car but then the A.D. told me the car belonged to the school as well, so I got my LTD to transfer the stuff to a different car. I was unhappy about it because I couldn’t fit everything in because the rusty car’s trunk was crammed with stuff.

I got upset because my old team started practicing there in the parking lot without telling me they were doing that and the new coach–Mark Biel(?!?!)–walked up to me wearing 1970s style polyester blue shorts and had questions and started asking me. I kept transferring stuff but decided not to take the golf clubs which I put in the backseat of the rustbucket, noticing there was a lot of loose change/money in that car, so I started picking that up because I didn’t want to lose $100 as a ‘donation’. Mark asked me about stat sheets and told me I needed to help him with scheduling. I said, “Fat chance,” and got in the LTD and rolled the window up so I couldn’t hear him. He walked away and started directing the practice from a recliner.

4/6/21: I was in an old-school Star Trek episode. I was on one side of a steel wall from Scotty and Kirk. There was something going on on my side of the wall that the Enterprise officers couldn’t see…a creature? Something dying? No idea. Eventually Kirk demanded to see what was going on so Scott flipped a lever and created see-through steel. Kirk said, “That’s better” as the ironic-happy Star Trek incidental music played.

–>the see-thru steel is from Star Trek IV…which I haven’t seen in more than a decade….
