Dreams – 4/15
4/15/24: I was in a dorm room that was black/not visible except for the spot I was at which was next to a shower. I started the water but it came out at the bottom from a think that looked like a fire plug and shot water just like a fire plug. I couldn’t get the shower to work normally so I looked for my roommate Brian O. [who was an actual roommate during grad school] but couldn’t see him so I showed the shower to Sara F. [someone from JH, a grade above] and I realized that the shower took up the space between the door and the room AND that it didn’t have a curtain.
4/15/23 #1: Julie and I had a twin brother (even though Julie and I are married). We went to visit him at his apartment. To be funny, I put on a blond wig and rode up to the apartment in a wheelchair. It turned out that our brother was Asian, blond, and living with Julie’s mom. We went into the apartment and I sat at a table with my ‘brother’ and he talked about how excited he was for December 8 and I shook a finger and said, “Ah-hah, you do celebrate Pearl Harbor Day.” He put his head on the table, crying he didn’t mean anything, so I gave him a hug and repeated “There, there” to him.
4/15/23 #2: I was in a conference room. That was where the national volleyball championship was. LLCC was there but the coach skipped out. I had to coach them because I’d just been put in the HOF, so I left my seat–then had to go back because I’d stored pencils and stat sheets inside the back of the chair in front of me. I was told that I wasn’t going to coach LLCC after all. Instead it would be Washington State and we were playing outside in the park in darkness. When I got there, WSU was losing so I told them “Let’s play positions for real” and we came back and beat Kirkwood. Their coach was mad and refused to shake hands so the WSU players were chasing them around the park to force them to shake hands. I was amused how angry the coach was and went back inside.
4/15/23 #3: [may have been continuation of second dream] I walked through a door and was at Origins. I knew I had a booth in the room next door. The room I was in had people around a table playing a complicated diplomacy game that started with a phase where people distributed food across Europe which led to trading/influence negotiations. A guy with a bead said “I’m the designer. This is just a prototype. Do you design?” I told him I had an idea for a European ‘conquer-game’ that covered 1864-1976 but it wasn’t done. He asked me to play and I said I had to work my booth, so he came into the other room, swept the pieces of another group’s game off a table, put the table in front of my booth, and set his up so we could play with his friends while I also manned my booth.
4/15/22: The dream was about American football. There was a proposal to play on three downs instead of four and another to permit cars to be put on the field. Someone suggested that the Queen of England be drafted as a wide receiver. Then there was an exhibition game–the Bears were one team. One Bear sacked the QB and left a dent in the ground he landed on him so hard. Another Bear tore his ACL but no one would help him so he hopped around and around the field. Another guy saw he was wearing #58 and said “Holy crap, I’m Wilbur Marshall!”
4/15/21: I was playing indoor soccer doubles. It was LLCC vs. Greenville and my teammate was Morgan Hauser. We didn’t use a soccer ball–it was a tennis ball we were kicking and LLCC didn’t set up the gym, so we had to use cardboard boxes as the goals. Morgan just kept sending text messages for most of the game while I ran around. I scored and got trapped in a corner, tangled up in something and the tennis ball started rolling towards our goal. At the last minute Morgan stopped it and looked at me and I heard her think, “See, I’m doing something, Dietz.”
