Dreams – 3/25

3/25/25: It was pretty dark but I could still make out print on paper. I was in a group of coaches. I looked at the paper and saw it was a biography of everyone in attendance. This included Katie Heckert (a HS coach in southern IL I have not seen in 10+ years). Her biography though read that she had died in 2005. This confused me because I had just talked to her at the party.

3/25/24: I was in a school hallway. Teachers and kids were everywhere for some sort of special day. They were getting ready to play games but I noticed one teacher carrying ‘games’ was actually carrying a 24-pack of Budweiser from the box’s graphic design. I walked down the hall to find Jim Stone but he wasn’t in his office. I was told he was in “7-S” but I couldn’t find that. The rooms were all in a circle–like a Supermax prison with double-digit numbers. I asked someone and they pointed me to the center area which doubled as the library. It had a paperclipped sign above it saying “7-S”. Then I blinked and I was in one of the rooms and it was twilight and I was with two girls I coached in high school, Jen and Danielle, and I was talking to them about SLU and playing D1 volleyball. but I noticed they were really short, had triple-chins, and looked like they were animated troll dolls. Danielle told me she had not taken the ACT and I answered, “Well, I took that before my junior year.”

I was in a city when aliens attacked. I ran away but no one would let me or the person I was with into their homes. we kept running until we found an empty home that had a lot of windows and a king-size bed in the living room. We stopped because we ‘knew’ we would be safe there. Then in the distance, we saw what looked like file footage of an atomic explosion outside. I realized the aliens weren’t invading. They were destroying the planet. I sat on the bed again and Julie was there. She said I’d picked up a splinter in my foot. She took pliers and pulled up the skin off the bottom of my foot. This made me scream but no words came out. I just wondered when the house would get blasted by an A-bomb.

I was working in a room with my assistant coach when a big fat gangster came into the room–the gangster had my face…like a twin but 300lbs heavier. My assistant immediately left and said she had work to do. After she was gone, the gangster and his henchmen stood there watching me and then he started talking to me about loyalty, that I’d broken his heart, and that I knew what that meant…that someone would have to pay the price…and then he gestured like a gun with his fingers and whispered ‘Bang.’ Then Gangster-Me smiled and told me not to worry–Tiffany was the one who would pay the price when she returned for her disloyalty to the organization unless I figured out what would make Gangster-Me happy. I froze because I had no idea.

I was working for the NFL and was told to design a combine course for athletes in a bad neighborhood. I knew the neighborhood had a lot of robberies and drug deals and a Cadillac kept circling the neighborhood driving really slow. I recognized it because it had chandeliers for headlights (it’s the Duke of New York’s car from ‘Escape from New York’). I went about my work and created a course using lawn chairs as hurdles, street signs as pylons, and mattresses for jump pits. The only problem was when I wasn’t looking, someone poured gasoline on the mattresses and set them on fire. The NFL commissioner showed up and said the fires were a nice touch and this would prove which players were tough and which needed to go play hockey instead.

I was offered a trip to Japan by Hubert Esser. I accepted and we landed in Osaka, but I apparently slept until we arrived at our hotel. He told me, we are only staying for a few hours before moving to another city. We went to the local mall. My guide there was my mother-in-law. She was dressed in a bathing suit and bunny slippers. The mall had giant swimming pools on both sides of the walkway. She told me not to get in the pools because my clothes would get wet. Instead, she disappeared, I went up a staircase, and found myself at the end of the mall 20 miles down the road.

Lost, I got into a taxi which took me to every hotel in the city, but I was told my friends were already at the airport. There I had to stand in line to get on the plane. I got to my seat and it was uncomfortable because there was a diner table right in front of me and the seat was like McDonald’s plastic. I tried to sleep, but Eric Canfield was there complaining I was taking up too much room. He wanted to know if I wanted to play Squad Leader. I told him I just wanted to sleep, so he left, asking “Anyone want to play a game?”

I woke up a bit later and went looking for Eric. I found him and our friend Baron. They were in the airplane lounge (which was a bed the size of the entire room and had a bunch of sleeping people). They had Squad Leader out, but were arguing. Baron insisted the Russians received 700 squads in Scenario 1 because it needed to be realistic, Eric said they should go by the rules.

I went back, slapped Hubert’s mom (yikes), told Hubert thanks for the trip, and went back to sleep on the diner table itself.
