Dreams – 3/2
3/2/25 #1: I was in an academic room discussing volleyball when we were told to move to another room. I went in and it was crowded and I sat next to a baseball coach who was unhappy he had to share with “lesser sports”. People started leaving (the session was over?), I went in the hall, and spotted Mark Gwaltney (I haven’t seem him since 8th grade/1982). He was carrying a small blue flag. I realized I was supposed to chase him, so I did through the building, then outside to where cars were dropping off hotel guests. I couldn’t catch up–I also realized the baseball coach was chasing him and was faster than me. Gwaltney turned left and disappeared in a building, so did the other coach. When I got to the building, there was a paddlewheel you climbed on that served as an elevator (like a 1920s elevator). It was very narrow. At the top, I couldn’t figure out how to climb off and I was worried I would be crushed by machinery on its trip back down, but I wasn’t and I backed off it once I was on the ground level again. 3/2/25 #2: I was at a baseball game with Julie sitting in white leather seats above first base. There was a commotion behind us–it was a baseball team leaving to go to class. They were dressed in the powder-blue uniforms of the 70s Cubs, except they said “Athletics” on the front. The coach looked at me and nodded. His had “Coach Carter” on the back–and I wondered if UIU would permit me to wear throwback uniforms at some time in the future.
3/2/23 #1: I was in a warehouse with stacks of cardboard boxes. They all had paintings on their sides that looked like they told a story and from a distance, I realized they also formed the image of a “mythic Aztec bird.” Then I stumbled across a stack of the boxes that had fallen and crushed a giant rat–and those boxes were painted telling the story of a bird swooping to kill its prey.
3/2/23 #2: I was in a crowd of reporters standing in front of a podium. Cheers erupted when a couple of guys appeared. They were holding up a red hooded sweatshirt tha said “VOILS” in iron-on white letters on the back. They stood in front of the microphone and kept yelling “CHAMPIONS!!! CHAMPIONS!!!” (Voils = maiden name of a player I coached in club and college)
3/2/22: #1: I was driving on a divided highway and my grandfather was following in his silver Bonneville. He had my son (maybe grandson) as a baby with him. I zone out driving and noticed I’d left the road and was driving in a farm field and the Bonneville wasn’t behind me. I stopped and looked around for a road, found it, found a hole in the fence separating the road from the farm, and went and parked in the meridian. I got out, poked a hole in the gastank and filled it with sugar. [clearly influenced by reading stories of Russians sabotaging their tanks in Ukraine]. I then started walking in the direction I thought they went, wondering if anyone would let me hitch a ride.
3/2/22 #2: I walked into a gym and had people staring at me. It was LLCC orientation for athletes. I was carrying my blue college backpack and sat down behind the parent of an alumni. She handed me a paper and I kept part of it and handed the rest back. I looked at the paper and it was a Strat-o-matic football card for Anna Becker and she averaged 14.7 yds/catch as a receiver and she returned kicks, so I started pretend-rolling dice so she could have practice before getting in a game. People kept staring so I went down a tunnel to get away/find a locker room. I looked on the other side of Becker’s S-o-M card and it had my class schedule on it.
