Dreams – 3/13
3/13/25: I was sitting on a floor watching a basketball game on a small TV also sitting on the floor when my sister suddenly appeared and brought Matt and Katy Lawrence with her. I wasn’t able to move or say anything, so I just tried to keep watching the basketball game and realized that Matt looked way different–he looked like Greg Wexell instead of being Matt Lawrence.
3/13/24: I was standing on one side of a giant gameboard with Julie. The map was a ‘top-down’ of the northern hemisphere (like the Dune boardgame). Julie said that it showed how NATO let the French Empire expand–and I pointed out France had an empire 200 years before NATO and that France left NATO in the 1960s. Julie nodded and said, “You may be right.” The dream then switched to third-person and two guys in khaki uniforms wearing green COVID facemasks standing in front of a jeep. They were getting sworn in to the French Foreign Legion. They then teleported in front of a barracks where another man in khaki was saying “For best results in training, you must eat nothing but protein.” It dawned on me then that France sustained its empire after World War 2 by using SS soldiers in the Foreign Legion.
3/13/22: I was with a group of people playing basketball except we didn’t have a ball. I couldn’t find it. Instead, there was a burning hole in the corner of the floor and people stood around that trying to peer down it to see what was below.
3/13/19: I was part of a military unit or Resistance. We got ambushed and tried to escape. I wound up alone and broke into a house. When I woke up, a disease had wiped out most of the world and I was in a mountain-top mansion in the Faroe Islands with an awesome view (and big dining room table). Out the back door though, the view was the same as from my grandparents’ front porch in Keokuk. That seemed odd, so I decided to go the Big 12’s women’s basketball championship held on my island’s local rec center. Iowa State and TCU survived and since I was the only fan, I got to run the scoreboard, even though I was rooting for Iowa State.
3/13/18: LLCC didn’t have a catcher for a baseball game and no else wanted to catch Drew Stephens (an LLCC players from ~2006), so the AD ordered me to do it. Home plate though was on one side of an office door and the pitcher was throwing through his own office door and I couldn’t see anything but straight ahead. Somehow the first guy got on base, but I threw him out stealing. The second guy struck out and the third guy hit a ginormous fly ball that was apparently caught in centerfield.
I took my mask office and sat in the lobby. I wanted a drink but was told I had to pay for it myself–I only had two pennies and three dimes. Illinois Central’s A.D. refused to give me the remaining money–“Them’s the breaks,” she said (typical ICC attitude…). When it was time for the 2nd, Drew and I decided I’d progressed enough that he could throw curveballs. My AD (Ron) lectured me that it was my job to tell Drew what to throw, not to consult with him (very much a Ron thing to say in the real world, too…). We had to wait until the infielders took a lot of warmups and they kept switching sides of the field–because firstbasemen needed to practice being at third and vice-versa. Finally I could throw down to second, but my throw went way far into centerfield where it hit a Scrabble game some fans had set up. They were not happy.
