Dreams – 2/23

2/23/25 #1: I was in a rectangular lecture hall/banquet room and there were multiple big-screen TVs. All of them had intense looking broadcasters, explosions, big soundtrack music accompanying. These were all broadcasts by “El Jeffa” (pronounced Heffa), the “terrorist weather network”. 2/23/25 #2: I went to a wedding with two juco alumni (Caitlin and Megan O.) We were there undercover on an investigation. Megan wore a purple/burgundy knee-length dress and I was suspicious she was a Time Lord because it was the same color as Matt Smith’s coat from Season 7. 2/23/25 #3: I was R1 at a VB match that was a national championship. My partner and I called a perfect match but my least favorite VB team won. We went to change clothes and Pati Rolf was there (except it wasn’t her–person was older, stockier, with a square face). I shook her hand and asked how we did because I thought we were nearly perfect. She smiled and said “Well done, boys.” My partner and I discussed my least favorite team’s coach getting mad early in the match. The R2 said “What a hothead?” I whispered back, “That’s the secret to his cheating.”

2/23/24: I was playing in a baseball game on a golf course. I thought I was in centerfield until Kris Bryant came to stand near me. There was a popup that disappeared from view above us that I knew had gone to the upper atmosphere. I decided to go play first base while Bryant waited for the ball to come back down. When I got to first, there was a runner near the base, so I needed a glove to double him off when the ball came down and Bryant caught it, but I couldn’t figure out the firstbaseman’s glove and kept flipping it over trying to figure out where my thumb went and I wondered if I had the wrong glove–and if what I had was maybe an ‘ambidextrous oven mitt’.

2/23/23:

I was coaching a VB team in a match in our living room here–except it was the living room in Davenport and the layout was a mirror-image. The official was my Great-Uncle Don and he was wearing a corn-colored blazer like ABC Sports announcers wore in the 1970s, but when the other team got to 7 (score was 7-3…), he motioned that the other team was the champion. He got off the ref stand and walked across the court into the dining room and then started upstairs to go take a shower. He waved me away, refusing to talk to me.

2/23/22:

I was warming up in the rightfield bullpen in Wrigley (the old stadium setup) for a night game, but I wasn’t a starter. That was Jon Lester and he was also the bullpen coach. Brad Hand was also warming up by throwing pitches into the brick first-base wall. They were announcing lineups over the loudspeaker when suddenly WGN contacted me and introduced me as host of the Jim Dietz Pre-game Show. I couldn’t think of anything to say, so I demanded more cookies as part of my salary. Lester said ‘Attaboy.’ I was then instantly in the clubhouse which was serving that day as a wedding reception and there was a buffet of cookies.

I was immediately in a hotel elevator. Everything was monochrome. I went to my room, changed clothes, and left to go downstairs to the dorm cafeteria, taking my black book backpack with me. I got out of the elevator but dropped things on the floor. The elevator door jammed 1/3 open and I couldn’t grab all my stuff until finally I tapped the ‘open’ signal. I was rushing to put everything in the backpack when Maria D. appeared (she was college-age in the dream). I realized I forgot something in my room so I got back on the elevator with her. She looked at me and said, “You’re smiling at me today. I’m glad.” This weirded me out because she was the only part of the dream at that point in color, not monochrome.

2/23/21:

I was in a ‘gym’ but it was really an abandoned warehouse of some sort. Jim Stone (former Ohio State coach) was running a blocking drill and I was watching from behind him on a balcony. Sherri Helman (former OSU player) blocked a ball sideways and I yelled at her that she needed to penetrate the net. Stone then hit one directly to her as a lob so she could block it and feel better about herself.

Then I was walking around the gym maneuvering around piles of pallets. In the corner there were coaches sitting next to boxes of paperwork that had to be done. I hid and then quickly walked away from them.
