Dreams – 2/12

2/12/25: I was driving past my grandparents’ house in Keokuk when I saw a garage sale going on there and also realized there were surveillance cameras everywhere. I parked but did not get out of the car. The guy I was traveling with got out and I noticed that the garage was gone and there was no driveway. Those were replaced by a bunch of grass and a really long hill that would be slow to drive up.

2/12/24: I was at a party that was really crowded–unsure whether it was small rooms or a lot of people. I couldn’t see faces on anybody/it was dark. A guy tapped me on the shoulder who looked like Travis Kelce except he only came up to my shoulders. He said “Taylor wants you to meet her favorite college professor. He teaches philosophy.” I followed him to the kitchen where a guy wearing a sportscoat and tie was doing dishes. He wiped his hands on a towel and then shook my hand. 2/12/23 #1: I was inside Wrigley Field–it was one big room made of concrete. While I was trying to figure out how to get out to the diamond and which staircase to take, the LA Dodgers came in. They were confused how to get to their ballpark and asked for help. So I took them outside and pointed down the block and said “It’s easy to confuse. Your stadium is at 1160 Addison and this is 1060 West Addison.” I walked them to their park which was called Wrigley Stadium and looked exactly like Wrigley Field.

2/12/23 #2: I went to Muscatine HS because I was coaching a VB match. I got lost and the principle showed me the visiting locker room which had benches and chairs and was normally a study hall room. He was very nice and then showed me the original member of their school Hall of Fame–it was a guy named Dietz and he was born in 1932. I then told him I coached volleyball and he said I was in the wrong place, that Muscatine played VB at McKendree College in southern Illinois (Muscatine is in Iowa). Walking me to my car, he said he thought I was a great coach and I said “I just like math and geometry” and then I asked him which was better–an outfielder with a strong arm or with good range. He didn’t know.

I got in a muscle care and left the parking lot but the highway was mostly green, maybe with clipped grass, and I was following a police car so I would be late to McKendree. I blinked and was at McKendree but T-town wasn’t playing. It was a college team and I thought they would recognize me, so I crawled to my car, got in, and put it in stealth mode as I drove past their team bus.

2/12/22: I was sitting at a school desk trying to figure out which of several cards on my desk was ‘yellow’–because they were all similar and maybe it was a trick question and they were all yellow. It cut away to a monitor watching the room and the camera was able to see everyone like an x-ray would. I was frozen, unable to decide on a color or to leave the room and avoid the x-ray cameras.

2/12/21: I was with two ‘friends’ and we were in a big open courtyard (that wasn’t really a courtyard…like a town square in a town wayyyy spread out). We were in a big foxhole or something afraid of being attacked by aliens? Monsters? We knew we were outnumbered and things were bad. One friend used a cell phone to call reinforcements.

A helicopter showed up and Kurt Russell (just had a dream with him in it a few days ago…weird) jumped out and walked towards us. I asked, “That’s our reinforcement?” One friend said, “I don’t think he’s enough.” Then we looked at a building like the Alamo and saw a dog there walking towards its door. The other friend then said, “Russell brought his dog. We’re good now.”

2/12/20: I was an enlisted man in the Marines. Someone in my platoon was asked a question and could not answer it. I was asked to stay behind with three other soldiers. The sergeant asked us to sit down on the grass with him and then told us we needed to find movies that showed leadership. It was a very sunny day in the grass was ‘crisp’ and uncomfortable to sit on.

We kept thinking of movies but could not remember the titles… We remembered the movie of seven men holding off Mexican bandits (Magnificent Seven); another had a machine gun and an old west bank robbery (Wild Bunch); the other had a soldier surfing with helicopters overhead (Apocalypse Now). I walked to the camp library but that took all afternoon and evening.

When I got there, I found Sgt. Rico. He looked exactly like the actor who played him in the movie (Starship Troopers). He was flailing about and said there were bugs everywhere. This was because he had just shot up with meth. At that point the police showed up and arrested me because I had not found any movie examples of leadership.

2/12/16: I was at a school recital with kids around a balcony and parents down below. Two kids started singing a Sonny and Cher song but there was no applause. So then me and Paul Eichinger did a duet of “I Got You Babe” which got a standing ovation…until we started arguing over who was Sonny and who was Cher. Then it got awkward…and the dream ended.
