Dreams – 12/20

12/20/24: I am in a narrow kitchen, staring at a white oven with an open door (the grill inside is silver). My mom is next to me and Julie and she is explaining what an oven is to us. I turn to her and explain I know but as I talk, Mom is going into the next room and isn’t listening. When I turn back to the oven, she returns to the kitchen. When I try and talk, she leaves the room. I then finally yell, “Stop it, Sue!” (which is mother-in-law’s name…she is famous for talking over people/not listening…) and then my mom doesn’t return to the kitchen and I feel bad/guilty for having yelled something at her.

12/20/23 #1: I saw a top-down map. Friendly units were in red, the bad guys were blue. I left one unit (4 men) to watch the northwest while the rest of us defended a path on a cliff with a school bus as HQ. The enemy had to be delayed and approach us on a path on the other side of the gorge. We had no weapons, so I was throwing spears at them to get them to stop. When I ran out of spears, I only had a long, thin metal rod sharpened at one end that would kill on touch but I couldn’t reach them–and I realized they were on our side of the cliff, just out of sight. The bus driver handed me a long window scraper and I realized if I taped the rod to that, I could reach across the cliff. The view went top-down again and I saw the blue forces had moved around our other unit. I blinked and I was there as those ref soldiers snuck into an enemy held warehouse inside a cave entrance (it was two stories). The red officer climbed up, disabled a soldier there, then shook hands with the opposing commander and I realized he’d killed our informant and was a traitor. The officer had a big brown neck beard.

12/20/23 #2: I was in a cafeteria–like the one at the State Department and I was grading papers. They wanted to ask me questions (one guy was Jack Reacher–the character) and I refused and told them I’d only talk out on the balcony since I was paranoid. They didn’t want to go outside, so I left. In a cubbyhole (like grade schoolers use) I found a black backpack and realized I’d found the secret depository for the CIA. The backpack had shredded papers related to my mom’s death. I took the backpack, ran, then a voice told me there was a tracker made of glue/chemicals on an envelope in the backpack, so I tore that off and ran back to the cafeteria knowing they were on to me. I blinked and I was in a minivan with Reacher driving. I was willing to show him everything, but first he had to return his library books. He parked on the lip of the road so if I got out, I had to be careful of the muddy drainage ditch.

12/20/23 NAP: I was driving a car clockwise around the circle where I went to high school. There was a traffic jam so I couldn’t find a spot. Instead, I backed up and parked against a red metal door to the gym, propping it open. I walked thru the gym into the hallway and saw a pile of cigarette butts. I walked further past several old people sitting cross-legged on the floor smoking cigarettes. I just kept walking while they stared at me.

12/20/22: I was walking through a college campus courtyard when I saw author Jane Smiley–except she was short and still young. She smiled and I sat with her on a picnic blanket and then we decided to get married. Then I was immediately walking on a sidewalk into an administration building doubling as a church. That was when my actual mother-in-law saw us and demanded her name go on the marriage license as well. I then remembered I was already married, so I ran off and hid in a bathroom where I decided to help the other guys in there design boardgames.

12/20/21 #1: I was in a mall courtyard or the hall of a huge mansion. There was a zombie attack, so we moved upstairs and sealed off the stairs. The only connection to downstairs turned out to be a children’s playground made by Fisher Price. We couldn’t figure out what to do and kids kept climbing up to play not realizing there were zombies.

12/20/21 #2: I was laying in the ditch next to someone across from a green igloo that was on fire–I think it was an alien spacecraft. We didn’t know how to destroy it when a dinosaur-turtle appeared next to us. We thought it would eat us then it shot green goo out of its face and that wiped out all the lava/poison in the green igloo. The guy next to me turned out to be Fred from Scoobie Doo and he then gave concluding exposition: “That dinosaur just put the fire out and saved us and now he’s going to live in it with his family!”
