Dreams – 11/25
11/25/24 #1: [fragment only] I was on a yacht, it was sunny, and I had homework to do. 11/25/24 #2: I was in a house with people milling about. Everyone was in uniforms or warmups. My team was playing a volleyball triangular. I walked into the kitchen and talked to the Johnson County coach–a woman taller/stockier than me. I congratulated her on winning the national title that weekend and said I didn’t understand why we had these games on the schedule. She said she talked to the Central coach and he agreed…then I pointed at the JC coach and said, “Maybe this means we have a chance to upset both of you and end our season on a high note.”
11/25/23: I was on a porch that reminded me of my grandparents’ house in Davenport on W. Hayes except there was another house built in the front yard right up against the flowers in front of the porch. There were big rocks there and each had the name of someone who lived in that other house–and they were all people related to the individual who went psycho with an accusation in real life last month. Then there was a voiceover from Samuel L. Jackson that said I could pick one of the stones and he’d visit that person with righteous anger and fury–and it sounded like his quote from Pulp Fiction but wasn’t quite right. I decided to go into my grandparents’ house and ignore Samuel L. Jackson.
11/25/22: I was driving my Challenger and needed to get to a childcare/daycare center that was also serving as a transportation hub because I needed to catch a bus. I saw cars turning to go there off the road but I didn’t take the turn and went to the end of the block and turned at the light and came in the back way at a sign that said “Richard Lodge Drive”. I wasn’t sure if I should park in front or back–and then realized the daycare center wasn’t just a bus depot but also a gas station.
11/25/21: I was in a classroom at a desk. Every student was a teacher which meant the teacher was actually a sub. He was trying to figure out what to do when one student made the comment that ‘Beyond the Sea’ is horrible with the worst sax solo ever. I defended the song and the guy said “Then name a worse sax solo.” I couldn’t think of any other sax solo. The teacher then handed out Scantron forms. I filled mine out immediately and was sent to the principal’s office. The principal was the black woman in charge of Warehouse 13. I jumped when I saw her–I forgot a mask. She said that was okay and pointed to her conference room where she had cleaning supplies for a decade. She then started asking about the Scantron and I said it would be stupid to fill out with a laundry marker. I then saw the substitute teacher escorting my friend Dave P. to an interrogation room.
11/25/20: I walked into Cass Gym and found it had been renovated to have a steep arched ceiling and that the bright lights had been replaced by dim ones. There was a team playing on the court and score was being kept even though they did not have an opponent. The referee ruled they should play even though that opponent was late. I went in to see my athletic director and he was not happy with the referee’s decision and asked if I would do it… I told him I could not because all I had was my t-shirt from Nationals in 2016. When I got back into the gymnasium, the other team (Frontier) had arrived and the coach was angry the officials had already started to match and they were now trailing 18-0 so the Frontier coach threatened to start a fist fight against both officials. I sat at the top of the bleachers preparing to scout the match and realized somebody had switched cell phones with me. When I tried to figure out who the other cell phone belonged to, the phone started repeating to me “Elvis is dead” over and over again.
