Dreams – 1/6

I was watching people fight one another by throwing decks of cards at each other. They weren’t supposed to be throwing the decks, but to have opened them and then use the individual cards as shuriken. [There was more to the dream and/or a second dream but those were forgotten in the course of waking up.]

I was in the main building of Lincoln College at “1-2 College Avenue.” I was at the top of a tall stairwell with two other guys. It was ranked as the most dangerous set of stairs in America. There was no handrail and if you fell, you would be stuck permanently, wedged into the space where the stairs change directions. We made it to the bottom but the door out of the building was shut. It was really thick wood and it turned out that it was VERY short and small so that none of us could fit thru it. We were trapped in the building forever and I realized this was why Lincoln College closed permanently.

I was in a hotel in San Diego for the AVCA Convention. I was in a long room with plate glass windows. Julie set up a phone camera to watch the street so we’d know when Mike returned and that she was going to take a shower. I worried about Mike because he always walked with his eyes looking at his phone and the street below had stairways going thru the sidewalk that glowed orange and red with the fires of hell. Then girls from a sorority sat down right next to me to discuss how to punish a member for a transgression she didn’t mention during confession. I walked behind one who was brunette–wearing a Hillary Clinton-style pantsuit and put a hand on her shoulder and one on her knee and saw that the book she had open was advanced math. I asked if she wanted a tutor and she said no because she knew all of ‘sorority law’ and that she’d date me later.

I needed a ride into ‘the city’ and I missed the regular truck so I had to hitch a ride on FedEx instead of DHL. I was talking with the driver. He was Mexican. I closed my eyes/fell asleep and woke up still on the truck, but the Mexican was now in a closet in the back next to me but the truck was still magically driving straight. After a while I got spooked and asked and the Mexican driver laughed and said he was the substitute because the regular Canadian got sick but was better now. I looked up front and saw a really woozy Canadian driving the truck.

I was in the LLCC ‘storage room’–which was more like a basement classroom in Ross Hall at Iowa State but painted dark blue. The AD and women’s bball coach were complaining about storage space and how stuff was treated. I said, “I’m glad I don’t work here now.” They were moving stuff around and a lot was broken. I added, “People still just shove stuff to the back and don’t care” while they tried to fix a lawn chair and picnic table. Instead the AD grabbed a power buffer and headed to a different room. In that room, the floor was rusty and everything was metal. He looked at me and told me to get out because the two of them needed to clean and polish the fitness center.
