Dreams – 1/18

I was in a game store looking for a group to do an RPG with. I saw there was a cave that was dark deep inside. I walked in and realized the cave was actually because the stacks and stacks of games had built up over the years to form walls and a roof. I recognized the left wall as being old games–like Carrier Strike, Tank Battle, and Tactics II while the right wall was the in-thing for the 2020s of giant boxed games including one in a box half my size in pink and yellow called Aversion/Atrocity/Adversary(?) along with expansions for it in boxes ‘only’ a foot high. I wanted to go deeper in the cave but I needed a light and all I had was matches and a lantern, so I didn’t–because if one of the boxes caught fire, the store would burn to the ground and I didn’t want to lose the opportunity to game.

I was on the bench in a VB game in a small gym (like a church gym size). My team was getting crushed when I got put in. I was told to serve but we had four front-row players. The official didn’t care because the score was a blowout. I served and it was really short. I couldn’t tell if it went over or not but someone threw snowballs onto the court which distracted the ref, so they counted it as an ace. I served again, realizing the ball was red with black stripes. I hit it high and hard trying for a deep corner but I put backspin on the ball and the exhaust fans and the spin floated the ball back onto our side where it was a service error. The other team started applauding. The ref nodded at me and said, “It doesn’t count, but that serve…bravo, bravo, bravo.”

I had to move to T-town to teach there. I arrived at night and there was no housing so I had to move in with a family. They were all up even though it was 3am. I was given a bedroom–that looked like my old one in Davenport. I sat at a desk there unable to sleep and was going to undress/go to bed when I realized I was sharing the room with a girl–because she walked to the door and invited several friends into the room for a dance party. She said it was okay if I wanted to sleep though. I didn’t know what to do, so I just said, “This sucks” and the dream ended.

I was in a wealthy neighborhood playing WR for Tampa Bay. We needed to win to make the playoffs. Tom Brady threw a ball that he intentionally skimmed off a house’s shingled roof and I was able to catch it at shoelace level with my fingertips. I kept running around the block like I’d scored a soccer goal and by the time I got back to the house/playing field, everyone was gone except for a toddler on a tricycle. I went inside the house to brag but no one cared about football. Keith Anderson and Todd Francis wanted to know what interactions I’d had with ‘Dr. Pope’. They didn’t believe I talked to him on the phone on Tuesday.
This made me mad, so I went upstairs wanting hot dogs. I found three but they were scraggly and looked like fingers. I put them in a small portable microwave, but this upset my stepfather who said I should use the regular microwave like everyone else. That microwave was the size of a refrigerator. I saw inside that someone was nuking all these cups of pizza bites on a conveyor belt inside. I decided I didn’t want hotdogs and I unplugged the small microwave and put it away.

I dreamed I was posting Facebook messages about my dreams…as part of my role in a Woody Allen movie. I was starring with Jane Lynch–we were ticket scalpers trying to sell tickets for the St.L Cardinals in the World Series…even though it was Giants vs. Rangers.
