Dream Come True: First Full-Time Role in Sports for Laina Banic Happens with Erie Seawolves

Laina Banic grew up in small town Greenville, Pennsylvania and fell in love with the sports of basketball and dance. While she was a fan of all sports, especially watching them with her father, Chris, it was basketball and dance she would continue playing all the way through high school.
In college, she continued dancing for the Behrend Lions dance team that performed at men’s and women’s basketball games. Truly, sports were everywhere she turned through her life. It’s what she always knew she wanted to do in her career.

The time has come as just last month, the Mercer County native became the Erie SeaWolves, the class AA affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, next Director of Fan Engagement. While it was the local Major League Baseball teams like the Cleveland Indians (now Guardians) and the Pittsburgh Pirates she rooted for, she also had a soft spot for her father’s St. Louis Cardinals. Now, the Tigers organization is the one she consistently roots for as she gets a front row seat each night to the young and upcoming talent of the Tigers minor league system.
Beginning with the organization as a graphics and video production intern, the SeaWolves soon figured out her poise and excitement she brings to work everyday. Always eager to learn something new and stick to the grind that is minor league baseball, she was rewarded by starting her career close to home.
The Behrend grad joined the Western PA Sports Blog Podcast to share her journey to this point now. Check it out using the links above!
