Don’t Worry, Be Trusting
“Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.” (Proverbs 27:1)
If your view of God is enlarging, you will never doubt that God will supply every need that He knows you have and give you just exactly the right measurement of grace you also require. We should not worry about what the next day will bring.
Each day has its own challenges and obstacles and temptations. There is enough trouble for each day; we don’t need to add worry to it. And when tomorrow brings new trouble, there will be new God-given grace to meet it. A non-worrier believes God will graciously give enough grace.
He will live in the words of Isaiah 26:3-4 – “You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock” God always supplies for us just enough to persevere.
Remember this stanza from the hymn “Day by Day”?
“Day by day, and with each passing moment, strength I find to meet my trials here; Trusting in my Father’s wise bestowment, I’ve no cause for worry or for fear. He, whose heart is kind beyond all measure, gives unto each day what He deems best, Lovingly its part of pain and pleasure, mingling toil with peace and rest.”
God doesn’t want us to worry about anything. Jesus equips us with the proper weapons of belief to overcome worry: belief that worry is sin, belief that He cares about our well-being, belief that He knows what we truly need, belief that He will supply our true need, and belief that He will give us just enough grace to persevere.
