Don’t Miss the Coney Island Marx Brothers Weekend!

We’re now less than two weeks out from our 2025 Marx Brothers Weekend, which will take place at Coney Island USA. By “our” I refer to members of the indomitable Marxfest Committee. For those who came late, it’s my pleasure to recap a history of Marx Brothers related events the group has put on:

The inaugural Marxfest, spearheaded by author Kevin Fitzpatrick, in 2014

The 2014 production of I’ll Say She Is, the Marx’s first Broadway show, exhumed by Noah Diamond

The 2016 off-Broadway production of I’ll Say She is

The 2017 Marx Brothers Weekend on Governor’s Island

2018: Committee Member Noah Diamond joins Matthew Coniam and Bob Gassell in co-hosting and co-producing The Marx Brothers Council Podcast (not a Marxfest project, but a close cousin!)

Marxfest 2024 (week one)

Marxfest 2024 (week two)

As for what’s planned for May 23-25, 2025:

Jonny Porkpie will be reviving his Marx Brothers themed burlesque show A Day on the Boardwalk, A Night at the Strip Show, and we’ll also have screenings of the new 3-D version of The Cocoanuts (in honor of the centennial of its Broadway premier), and a panel and symposium I am organizing called The Marx Brothers vs. The Man, which will be an exploration of the Marx Brothers as anti-establishment figures. Presenters include myself, Noah Diamond of I’ll Say She Is and the Marx Brothers Council Podcast, the great Jennifer Miller of Circus Amok, author/actress/astrologerKathy Biehlof I’ll Say She Is, and historian Steve Jaffee. Not to mention the return of our Marx Brothers trivia game show You Brett Your Life starring Brett Leveridge.

We’ll have Marx Brothers related merch at this one, too, including my most recent book The Marx Brothers Miscellany!
