Nick Dombkowski a left-handed pitching prospect in the Pittsburgh Pirates system was named the International League pitcher of the week award winner this week.

Dombkowski threw six shutout innings in a 6-0 win over the Syracuse Mets on Wednesday August 20th, 2025. The six innings was a career-high tying effort in the win. he allowed two hits and struck out four during the outing.

In 21 games Dombkowski has made seven starts. He is 2-5 with a 6.38 ERA in 48 innings pitched. He is currently not ranked in the Pittsburgh Pirates top 30 prospects list. Though he is the first player from the Indianapolis Indians to win an International League weekly award this season. Witch is a bit of a surprise considering some of the prospects at that level this season for the Pirates.

Though it’s always good to see a player in the Pirates system get recognized as the best pitcher of the week. No doubt he earned it. Hopefully this is the start that leads to more like it and maybe a call-up to Pittsburgh.
