The Las Angeles Dodgers will have a new Single-A affiliate in 2026. This affiliate recently announced their name and logo.
The new name is the Ontario Tower Buzzers. They have a series of logos related to aviation and bees. They also have a mascot named Maverick, no doubt a call back to the movie “Top Gun”. Though the name Tower Buzzers does have a bit of callback to the movie as well.
I think it’s a pretty fun logo and idea. It’s unique and different and hits the fun, but not over the top pretty well. It’s also not just calling them the Dodgers, which is good too. Though you do get the Dodger’s affiliation from the color scheme and the script on the hats. I think it’s a good balance of standing on its own as a team but also acknowledging the affiliation switch.
This being the first team name announcement for the 2026 season it sets the bar for the name changes to come. Will they be better, or worse than the Tower Buzzers?
I think if I were to grade the name and logo, I would give it a B. I think it fits a minor league baseball team well and is different than just being named like the bees, or pilots or some other already used aviation name. It’s just a fun name and logo.
