District 13 (2004)

Also known as ‘District B13’.
Director: Pierre Morel
Starring: Cyril Raffaelli, David Belle, Tony D’Amario
In the ghettos of Paris in 2010, an undercover cop and an ex-thug try to infiltrate a gang in order to defuse a neutron bomb.
According to the film makers, the stunts were done without wire or CGI effects. The stunts are incredible! David Belle’s agility is mind-boggling, to say the least.
Belle stars as the film’s anti-hero protagonist, Leito – on the run from the police and from a drug lord whose drugs he destroyed. However, when his sister is captured by the drug lord, and he is captured by Captain Tomaso (Cyril Raffaelli), Leito and Tomaso must work together to outwit the drug gang, and save Leito’s sister – and try to defuse a bomb at the same time! Time is of the essence, and running out fast!
‘District 13’ is a fast-paced action thriller with great photography, and an awesome soundtrack. There are some funny moments, too. It’s not quite as predictable as most Hollywood movies of this genre, and there’s a twist ending as well. If you enjoy action movies, you’re sure to love ‘District 13’.
In French.
Would I watch it again? Yes.
