DISSERTATION

It has been a long summer but I have finally finished writing my dissertation (see link for what it’s about and I will write a blog post about it soon).  For the past three months, it’s all I have been thinking about!  A month of that was data collection!  Hopefully, the hard work I put into it will get me that distinction grade (see my other grades).  One thing I learnt from this process is .  This wasbecause I was genuinely interested in what I was trying to find out.  This was in comparison to when I chose a lecturer’s suggested research question for my undergrad degree.  Looking back, I just didn’t get it and I cringed at the thought of what I wrote back then.

GB SITTING VOLLEYBALL

I was asked to help out the GB sitting volleyball team at the Men’s European Championships in Poland (one for the CV).  Unfortunately, I wasn’t there in person but it was definitely a learning experience.  .  Calling at the Paralympics definitely helped jump straight into statting their matches.  You understand things like the referee calls for lifting violation (when the player’s bum is off the floor).  On the request of the Head Coach, , which is whenever a player blocks a serve.  This did mess up the logical sequence of events, the stat report and data accuracy calculations.  If I had more time, I could have sorted it out.  The Head Coach only wanted stats on certain parts of the match.  This may have been the .  It took me a couple of sets to readjust my “eye” on the relevant parts of the game but I got pretty quick after.

PRESEASON IN HOLLAND

Last weekend, I recently went on a preseason trip to Holland with Polonia.  It was a great trip and nice to see some of the new players in action.  One of things I tried out was .  This was fantastic because every time I missed a part of an action, the five second delay feed meant I was able to catch what happened.  I will write a blog post on this.  One of the cutest things I did see was the ball girls and boys wearing the club’s kit and some even had knee pads on.
