Devers Delt to Giants

S. Samek

The trade deadline for MLB is over a month away. However, that didn’t stop the San Francisco Giants from making a big move now.

The Giants traded for Boston’s Rafael Devers. Jordan Hicks, Kyle Harrison, Jose Bello and James Tibbs III. Tibbs III was drafted at pick 13 in the 2024 draft.

The move comes as Matt Chapman is out with an injury. Devers is primarily going to slot in at third base but can also play DH as well. Through 73 games this season he is hitting .272 with an OPS of .905 with 15 home runs and 58 RBI.

With the Giants currently, just two games back in the Western Division behind the Dodgers this could really help boost the lineup. The question is will it be enough to get them to overcome the Dodgers and win the division? Could this be the first of many moves the Giants make before the July deadline? Tune in and find out.
