Deep Blue Sea (1999)

Director: Renny Harlin

Starring: Thomas Jane, Samuel L Jackson, Saffron Burrows, LL Cool J

Searching for a cure to Alzheimer’s disease, a group of scientists on an isolated research facility become the bait, as a trio of intelligent sharks fight back.

A uniquely different take on the shark genre, this is still one of my favorite shark movies. Insanely suspenseful and entertaining, with action from beginning to end. The helicopter crash scene during the storm must be one of the most amazing scenes!!

The sharks are realistically done, thus ensuring the suspense. The visual effects are awesome, and the photography is stunning. The film also features a fantastic score. Thomas Jane makes a credible hero and LL Cool J is effective as the comic relief.

‘Deep Blue Sea’ earned $164 million on a $64 million budget.
