December Deals at Costco
I mentioned in a previous post that I was having difficulty keeping up with all of the sales and dates of sales this time of year at Costco (Final (?) November Savings at Costco). Fortunately, I found a list of 11 deals to look at between November 20-December 24 to keep me focus on a limited number of items.
11 Costco Deals in December
1. Ghirardelli Premium Chocolate Squares Assortment ($4.30 off)
These individually wrapped candies come in four varieties (milk chocolate; milk chocolate caramel; dark chocolate mint; dark chocolate sea salt caramel).
I recently discussed this brand with respect to the peppermint bark squares (Final (?) November Savings at Costco). This variety pack sounds much better to me and each flavor sounds good. The individual wrapping also makes it easy to take a few as a treat on the go or to add to a gift.
2. Tipiak French Macarons ($4 off)
Another sweet option on which to save on December is these macarons. Sold in boxes that contain 36 bite-sized cookies, these macarons come in six flavors (salted caramel; pistachio; chocolate hazelnut; almond white chocolate; red velvet; crème brûlée)
I have never tried a macaron. Macaroons yes, macarons, no. I looked this item up and the package is beautiful. I can see these treats making a great addition to a dessert platter. The colors are appealing and the small size enables people to eat them as one dessert among several.
3. Starbucks K-Cup Pods ($8 off)
Costco sells two varieties of these Keurig Pods. Members can buy either Pike Place (medium roast) or French Roast (dark roast). Each box contains 72 pods.
I have mentioned many times that I do not drink coffee. It seems that there is at least one coffee pod option in the coupon books for most months. I have trouble keeping track of them all.
4. Keurig K-Cup Pods ($7 off)
Another coffee option in the coupon book is Keurig Brand. Boxes contain 80 pods and are sold in a variety of flavors (Original Donut Shop’s Regular Medium Roast; Newman’s Own Organic Special Blend Medium Roast; Caribou Coffee’s Caribou Blend Medium Roast; Tully’s Coffee Hawaiian Blend Extra Bold Medium Roast).
See above regarding coffee.
5. Crunchmaster Multi-Grain Crackers ($3.30 off)
The list of recommended items suggests these gluten-free crackers that contain six types of seeds (sesame; flax; quinoa; amaranth; millet; chia). One suggestion is to serve them with a cheese platter.
I don’t eat a lot of crackers but these look very good. I prefer bread and crackers with grains in them to add to the texture and complexity. I think that in addition to cheese, these crackers would be good with hummus, guacamole (Product Review: Good Foods Chunky Guacamole), or salsa.
6. Frito-Lay Classic Mix ($5 off)
This snack comes in boxes of 54 individual bags of chips. Members get a variety of chips (Cheetos; Nacho Cheese Doritos; Lay’s classic potato chips; Cool Ranch Doritos; Fritos; cheddar and sour cream Ruffles; barbecue-flavored Lay’s).
It appears that Costco sells multiple variety packs at different times because o have written about different combinations before (Costco Deals for October); (Costco Deals for Augus); (Costco Deals for June/July)). I have no need for these but, as a kid, I would have liked this box, as I liked all of the flavors.
7. Bibigo Beef Bulgogi Mandu ($3.90 off)
A more substantial food offered in the coupon book is these frozen dumplings. The bags contain three pounds of dumplings made with Korean-style bulgogi beef. They can be cooked in a pan or an air fryer.
Not an item for me but they sound like a good, convenient option for part of a meal.
8. Häagen-Dazs Vanilla Milk Chocolate Almond Bars ($3 off)
Another dessert on discount in December is the Häagen-Dazs Vanilla Milk Chocolate Almond Bars. The boxes contain 15 bars, each of which consists of vanilla ice cream coated in milk chocolate and sprinkled with almonds.
These bars are yet another item that seem to be frequently on sale. (Maybe alternating with the Kirkland brand). I have mentioned my lack of interest in ice cream novelties but these bars do look good.
9. Oreos ($3.50 off)
A classic snack in the coupon book is Oreos. Costco sells the item in boxes of 12 individual packs.
I have not had a “real” Oreo in years. When I have wanted the traditional sandwich cookie, I have gotten them at Trader Joe’s. However, I know that many are loyal to the Oreo. This package is a good design because of the individual sleeves, helping the cookies remain fresh.
10. Nongshim Tonkatsu Ramen ($3.60 off)
The article recommends these soup bowls as a comforting meal in the winter. The bowls contain pork broth, noodles, and a spicy sauce. They can be microwaved for an easy lunch.
Definitely not for me but I can imagine many people keeping these bowls in the office for an easy lunch option.
11. Nescafé Taster’s Choice Instant Coffee ($5 off)
Yet another option for a discount on coffee in December is this instant variety. The bottles contain enough coffee grounds to prepare up to 210 cups.
I remember the first time I learned about instant coffee. I was visiting a relative and he offered my mom and Grandma coffee. I saw him scooping some out of a container and asked my mom what he was doing, because until that time, I had only seen coffee being brewed or percolated. She told me what instant coffee was. I rarely see it but at least now I know what it is.
Will you be buying any of these items in December? Any others in the coupon book hat you find appealing?
