Director: James Wan

Starring: Kevin Bacon, John Goodman, Kelly Preston

Nick Hume is a mild-mannered executive with a perfect life, until one gruesome night he witnesses something that changes him forever. Transformed by grief, Hume eventually comes to the disturbing conclusion that no length is too great when protecting his family.

The film so effectively illustrates how unexpectedly fate can intervene and change your life. Nick Hume (Kevin Bacon) was just an ordinary guy with an ordinary family in an ordinary existence. Bacon is excellent as Nick Hume and I felt every inch of his hatred and sorrow.

‘Death Sentence’ is fast-paced and thrilling, with a beautiful score. The film also offers some interesting surprises. Yes, there’s a lot of plot flaws, but in general this was a very exciting vengeance film. Although it is not always entirely believable, I enjoyed how Nick Hume didn’t show any mercy when he confronted the bad guys. I liked this much more than John Wick (In fact, I don’t like the John Wick films, as he goes beyond revenge and is nothing more than a cold-blooded mass murderer). This was better. Anyone who has lost a loved one in a similar scenario will relate to the film.
