We got woken up pretty early by the council guys! They warned us that the parking wasn’t authorised camping, especially non contained vehicles. Nice of them not to give us a fine, we got up quickly, had breakfast, and did the walk towards Governors bay. It was quite smelly and hot (stagnant water in the bay). We drove to Lyttelton where the info centre was closed… going through the tunnel, we went back to Christchurch botanical garden.  Finally half of the conservatory was open! (They were working on the flower part) It wasn’t too warm and humid this time and we could observe a wide variety of exotic plants, very  colourful and bizarre! We had a look at the modern i-site and the little expo inside. We  walked to town, looking for the earthquake walkway and expo (too expensive we didn’t go!) Getting hungry, we searched for food while looking at phone shops for Jack. Nothing, we stopped near the destroyed church and watched two guys playing wisely chess, while listening to a street artist, singing and playing flute.

Very hungry, we walked back to Sue to make pasta (people were impressed by our little kitchen setup). Nicely full, we aimed to find a public library to start looking for a place to stay. The end of our road trip in the South seemed closer and closer. Few hours later and tired, we called the only few numbers we had and Jack played in the sound garden before heading off. Only one call was successful while we went to the warehouse and rebel sports (no Christmas shopping for us!) The lady saw us in the evening and showed us her big beach house. Very nice! She was very talkative and friendly. The price was a bit higher than expected. We had a think while going to a campervan campsite. On the way there we stopped by Halswell Quarry Park, which provided some interesting scenery and a nice walk in the evening, shared with many rabbits. Getting late we headed to the camping grounds, quite far but at least safe from fines. We had dinner and tried to find people to play cards with. Unfortunately they went to bed so we did the same after a quick game.
