Waking up at 8am, (a bit later than planned) we left the wet camping ground (because of the early rain) and let Esther sleep in. We went to the pool and I brought a new swimsuit. After my swim (while jack relaxed his butt in the spa) and a nice hot shower, we drove to New World to get some lunch and eat near the playground. Esther joined us after her shower at the camping ground and we asked for maps and walks at the I-site. The afternoon was more unfortunate as we kept driving to places and couldn’t find a decent track / point of interest. We tried the Blair Athol walkway but stopped when we had to cross on small slippery rocks at the Clutha River.

We dragged Esther to Sod cottage (no point to stop and look at it), the Milton Gothic Presbyterian church (Jack wanted to ring the bell) and a disappointing whale fossil lookout. Lots of driving we headed to the Sinclair Wetlands. It wasn’t too bad, and we even learnt that a rare bird came back in the wetland! Then we drove separately and got lost driving around looking for tracks. Frustrated and tired with all that drive for nothing, we made a stop in Brighton (original name..). I walked on the beach while Jack drew faces in the sand. We saw that the Ocean view camping on the way to Dunedin was of course full and I started to text Esther to know where she was. She found a nice camping site at Mosgiel racecourse. However it was crowded as a horse race was going on that night. Esther and Jack went to get pizza in town while I played Pokemon for a bit. Then Jack and I went to the library to cook and climb on the big fake spider web and slides at the playground nearby. Esther joined us few minutes after we returned to the campsite later.
