…and apparently it was prohibited to park on that parking for the night! I woke up at 3am seeing some car lights and little flashes in the dark. An officer gave us our first $200 fine for illegal “freedom camping”… lots of other cars got a ticket as well, Queenstown is expensive! Waking up in the morning we drove over to the park from yesterday to see if any non self-contained cars got tickets (it was a freedom camping zone). There were no tickets! A little grumpy that a 5 minute drive would have saved some cash breakfast was cooked up in the car park of countdown. Going to the pool lifted our spirits and gave Marianne a stretch. Feeling clean did some shopping and went to game over – a go cart and arcade facility. The arcade only had a few games, I had a go at a laser dodge game, using my super crawl tactics.

Moving along we were intrigued by a “zoological garden” sign. This was a farm. Lured by a friendly cat we were given a tour by a very friendly lady. Along with typical farm animals we saw a collection of Peacocks, Peasants, Budgies and other birds with a range of colours and sizes. Fueled up Sue and stopped by Bridgestone to have her tyres checked (I had been worried by some uneven wear). Nothing was wrong so we hot stuck deep into traffic before doing a little walk on the Kelvin Peninsula Track. We both enjoyed a swing that swung out over the water. A little walk was also enjoyed along the Jack’s Point Walkway (we didn’t finish it). Leaving Queenstown we went south and had dinner in Garston before backtracking to our sleepspot for the night. We parked in a beaten up rest stop behind tall grass, just in case of another ticket!
