Day 32

We woke up, no one did bother us during the night, lucky! Annoying fact, the rain was defiantly back and for a while. We managed to cook porridge under a little touristic shelter and kept going. I drove up to the Lake Dispute track and went on it between showers and sun. The walk was up hill to give us a nice view of the Lake. We kept walking on Mt Crichton track, through a lovely peaceful forest. We ended up at Sam Summers Hut, a rustic little house for travelers set near a cascade and (apparently) a gold area. As we walked down the rain restarted heavily and as I was tired we walked back to Sue on the highway. It wasn’t very safe and pleasant, but at least way shorter. Stopping for a quick lunch veggie wrap, we did the fern track up to Queenstown suburb and drove back in town at our favorite and free parking spot. Then we looked for some free wifi but couldn’t find anything, we went to ask the information center lady about all the activities we could do in rainy days.
Before heading to the Odyssey Sensory Maze, we looked in town desperately for chips and wedges. Another i-site lady gave us a great and cheap bar. All fed up we went for a great sensory experience! It was worth the price and we had lots of fun with mirrors, dark rooms, smelly stuff, electroshock and balloons! (especially Jack with cords) After that we looked at other activities like the underwater observatory and the speed boats cruise, but it wasn’t worth it or too expensive! We drove to the Lake Hayes and walked around it. The weather was clearing up a bit and it was an easy path. We went to see Frankton, east of Queenstown, big shopping area under construction. Thinking that the lake would of been a good place to spend the night, we changed our mind for a little parking near the highway to see a historic bridge over the river. Pasta for dinner, we were happy to have a nice and legal spot to sleep until lots of camper vans showed up and made a mess.
